Stalin used forced collectivism to basically take everything farmers grew, even the seed for next year’s crop, so that they began starving. This is communism in its pure form.
Look for the U.S. federal government to give them a bailout.
I keep waiting for Obama to ride to the rescue with an aid package for a fellow communist and paid for with more US debt we cannot afford.

Half the world needs a constant reminder of the evils of socialism thrust in its face, lest it always forgets. Better it happen there, and we can watch.
This is sickly, sadly fitting. Chavez rose to power by pitting the poor, rural farming people against the urban, modernized Venezuelans. He promised the farmers that he would spread the wealth of the city people and make their lives more fair.
Now the farmers, who have always been poor, have to give up their own meager belongings to feed the monster they created.
