HOUSTON, Texas — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement welcoming Ohio Governor John Kasich to the race for the Republican nomination for President of the United States:
“The ever-growing field of GOP contenders is a good and healthy development for our party, and Im glad to welcome Gov. Kasich to our ranks. John Kasich is a good man who loves this country, and like all others contending for our partys nomination, he will play an important role in preparing our eventual nominee to take on Hillary Clinton in 2016.”

I had never heard of him, and I don’t watch television, but I walked by as my wife was watching and a commercial came on.
Anyone know about this man, and what he stands for?
Another Milquetoast Republican, Cruz was just being nice.
LOL...the television seems to be like a GOP clown car with all of them pouring out of it!
Let me guess, liberal on social issues?
He and Boehner are buds.
I live in Ohio. Around the same time Walker was fighting public unions in his state Kasich tried too and failed spectacularly. He’s a supporter of Common Core, weak on immigration, a supporter of Obamacare, and more. He’s a weaker version of Jeb, and one of his advisors/campaign people/supporters (some guy on the news) said that Kasich isn’t afraid to tell the base when they’re wrong. Because you know, that’s the way to win the primary, to insult the base.
A year ago, I predicted Walker would take the nomination.
[please note, I am not supporting or rooting for any of these guys]
Now that the field is filled out, I believe Kasich or Walker will take the nomination.
Whichever takes it will pick one of the FL candidates as his running mate - probably Rubio, since he has name recognition in FL without the Bush stigma and also has *some* appeal to hispanics. It’s how they think.
SO...
1. Kasich/Rubio
2. Walker Rubio
Yea, don’t blame me.
Cruz is always prompt to welcome everyone to the race. He’s total class.
He was a part of Newt's Contract of America Movement.
Well...that is a pretty good pedigree, for the most part. I will see what his position papers look like, and if they jibe with his actions as governor.
Thanks for that info...
ACK! That is a disqualifier to me, but...I am going to look him over anyway.
(shudder)
One of Boehner’s buddies...worse than asps.
Anyone know about this man, and what he stands for?He was a Congressman in the 90's when the Republicans had their first house majority in decades.
He ((R)Kasich) was exposed for his plan to attend a fundraiser for (D) Gary Condit. He suddenly had other plans.
Gary Condit later was caught up in the controversy over the murder of his intern (lover) Shaundra Levy. He was never charged. Later some illegal (not Mexican) was convicted.
He is terrible.
He raised taxes on energy producers in Ohio.
He formed a group called “Jobs Ohio” to funnel public money to private business cronies.
He flatly told the Ohio legislature that if they pass a law restricting abortion after a heart beat is found, he will veto the law.
He expanded Medicaid by executive action (ala Obama) in Ohio WHILE THE LEGISLATURE WAS ON RECESS, AFTER THE REPUBLICANS HAD ALREADY DEFEATED LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING.
There are rumors that he is not of the highest moral fiber but that is as far as I would like to get into that.
I can’t stress enough how bad of a candidate he is.
Why, he stands for nothing. He brags about *his* compassion for the poor by expanding Medicaid—not his dollars, needless to say—and then the next day flies to New Hampshire or South Carolina to argue for a balanced budget.
He’s a clown, for sure, and the sooner he is flushed the better. Too bad, really, because with an ounce of character he’d be formidable.
Also he was a mucky muck with Lehman Brothers— managing director.
I don’t think there’s any reason to worry. There is no way his campaign will gain traction. We have real potential candidates. He knows he doesn’t have a chance but wants to be vice president or something.
Cruz is pure class. He is the only GOP candidate who has welcomed everyone into the race. I don’t know if he has the “celebrity” status to get elected that Trump does, but he ideologically is my first choice.
If you are pro 2nd amendment, all you need to know is that Kasich voted for Bubba’s gun ban in ‘94. He just adds to the list of RINOs that I would never vote for.
That’s it for me. I stop there.
Thanks.
I have heard enough. Thanks to both of you.
