House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) proposed lowering the voting age to 16 years old or 17 years old.
To achieve what we want to do for the middle class, for kids in school, for immigration reform, for all these things, we must change our politics. We must reduce the role of money in politics. We must dare to do that and so we have a dare, disclose, where is this money coming from, this dark money? Amend the Constitution to overturn Citizens United. Lets get out there and mobilize and do it. Reform our campaign system to empower small donors and empower voters with a renewed and strengthened Voting Rights Act, removing obstacles of participation, Pelosi said at the Make the Progress summit sponsored by the Center for American Progress.
Im for and Im interested in hearing your thoughts, and I know youll let me know for lowering the voting age to high school age, whether its 16 or 17 or, because when kids are in school theyre so interested, theyre so engaged, and we would like them to be ready at least to register before they leave.

Fine. But they should lower the age requirements on everything else to the same age as the age required to vote.
Ages regarding firearms, contracts, drinking, smoking, marriage without parental consent...everything. And if you have to show ID to prove you have the right to drink or smoke, you should have to do so to prove you have the right to vote.
And when they say they are too young to make the choices involved in the things I wrote of above, then say they are too young to make the choices involved in voting.
She's only after more democrat votes. She knows the schools, lefty-dominated snooze media, and pop entertainment, are filling our kids' heads with liberal and far left mush.
In my state the Libs are pushing to raise the minimum age to buy tobacco products to 21. The same bunch no doubt would eagerly drop the voting age to 16.
DITTOES !!
Ya beat me to it ...
+1.
The film “Wild in the Streets” from 1968 covered this brilliant idea. IIRC a rock star becomes president, puts all seniors in camps and feeds them LSD.
I propose raising it to 35.
Which is... eliminate it!
Democrats have been slowly destroying the American Middle Class for a century. Just as the Bolsheviks hated the Bourgeoisie, elitist Dems hate the middle class.
Lower the voting age to 16, and that may give them the power to finally wipe out the middle class.
Then they can have their typically-third-world economy composed of only elites and peasants. Lots of peasants.
Sounds like a good start.
Im in favor of raising it to 25.
When I see how immature and clueless some of these 18 year olds are, I regret that we lowered the voting age to 18.
And, am happy to see that the proportion of 18 to 21 year olds who actually vote is much lower than the overall voter turnout rate.
well...your Pelosi quote...what can be said? it contains a little bit of appealing ‘idealism’...everyone should be perfectly free to do any blessed thing they wish...without any costs or consequences.....
of course, that isn’t a workable approach to life
but alas, it seems to keep getting Mrs. Obama-Certifier and Abortion-is-Wonderful we’ll have your neighbors pay for you...... Pelosi.... elected
A lot of people file so they they can receive the so called "earned income", a better idea is someone who actually pays an income tax.
Raise it back to 21 - Minimum!
No.
Make it 40, and prohibit anyone from voting if they’re collecting a government check (other than active-duty military pay and SS retirement).
Empower high school teachers to influence how their students vote. Put grades at stake for voting incorrectly. Do this subtly by reacting to opinions expressed in classrooms and by grading essays and reports that contain "offensive" or religious opinions or references.
If they aren't old enough to enter into legal contracts on their own, then they shouldn't be old enough to vote.

They're trying to make it legal for felons to vote now. And not just released felons but existing, convicted and still-serving-time-in-prison felons.
Next, they'll try to make it legal for the funeral industry to register voters when they bury the bodies.
