Towards the end of the video where John McCain's betrayals are exposed By Vietnam Vets And POWs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hr37eE0nO8&feature=youtu.be
are found the remarks of former Congressman Dornan's which are accurate and highly plausible but are missing a vital part that deconstructs John McCain's character and the myth about his 'heroism'.
Here's the context with reference in italics to the Hanoi Hilton's POW Commanding Officer Admiral James Stockdale in his own words:
Admiral (then a USN Captain) Stockdale and all other POWs inside the Hanoi Hilton confirmed the only way to come home early was if Admiral Stockdale granted permission; there was no other way around it. There were very few early releasees. One was a Seaman Apprentice named Douglas Hegdahl III who had spent night and day memorizing the names of 256 aviators into a rhyme and jingle. He was ordered to be an early release because he had those names to pass on to his debriefer when he got home.
McCain was never ordered to early release although the enemy offered it to him. He refused because of the standing order given by his POW Commanding Officer James Stockdale. Many have construed this refusal as of his own volition. He did obey the order and the consequence of not obeying the order was well-described by Congressman Dornan.
From Admiral Stockdale's book p.254:
There was little concern in any American's mind about the possibility of the Vietnamese throwing anybody out to defame him; we now knew the Vietnamese well enough to be sure that any early releasee would have to buy his way out by groveling on his knees before the Communists, bad-mouthing America. I gave their new release program a name: FRP -- the "Fink Release Program," and that was the way it was to be known. I also issued an order that started on its way to the other cell blocks of Las Vegas and with subsequent movers to the camps elsewhere in the city and outside it: "No early release; we all go home together".
John McCain's betrayals Exposed By Vietnam Vets And POWs:
Thanks very much.
This makes my point. I have seen this and these sorts of things. Its all “I heard this, I know a guy who said, it’s well known that McCain did such and so.” That is what is called hearsay. Most of that comes from groups associated with the POW and MIA issues and were not happy with what did about those issues as a sitting Senator.
Comments from POW spouses, Veterans, and POWs without personal knowledge are probably useful for their political argument, but it doesn’t either affirm or refute the allegations against POW while in captivity. As far as I know, it does not exist, and certainly the link that you provided doesn’t even come close to resolving it.
Because of my belief that most of the POW/MIA agenda crowd are either running or benefiting from a massive scam against the families of MIA, I have little to said good about any of them. At best, they have been duped. The stories of remaining alive MIAs were not true and served only to generate revenue.
They were chairman of the committee that hid THEIR own records in the Vietnam war. THEY could both promote their own hero statice since they were able to classify the truth and make it unavailable to the public!
They presented the “facts” of their service to the media as they wanted it reported. (Propaganda) NOT as facts from the records (Truth)
It was relevant now and is relevant as future history.
Your knowledge of history is lacking. Are you young and have no memory of the hearings or were you not paying attention?
I had a neighbor whose mother just wanted to know where her son was last spotted etc. Anything. It wasnt bad enough that she had no body to bury McCain and Kerry destroyed all hope of her ever being given ANY information.
For me it’s personal. I remember her tears and my mothers as she held her. McCain can rot in hell
Also re: escape.
Little tough for Caucasians in striped suits for hide out for very long in Downtown Hanoi.
Knew a 6’ 6” red haired Irishman in RVN. He kept saying, “Gee, I hope I never have to E & E!”
Stockdale said: The Vietnamese called him The Prince.

He then goes on to describe John's behavior, courage and character.
Watch the entire 4:00min video. . .Stockdalewas Johns POW roommate.
So, either Stockdale was lying in the video or Stockdale was telling the truth.

Hostage has not done the work, as you say. Denegrating his sacrifice (as testified to by Stockdale—his POW roommate) prove Hostage is in error.

ADM James Stockdale was a man of Honor. He was not a liar.
Period!
And McCain was referred to as “The Prince” (not canary) because of his family. . .also according to Stockdale (in the video). So, are you accusing Admiral Stockdale of lying?
LOL. . .indeed!
Agree. . that was the point of my post.
It wasnt just the rumors of some being alive. It also had to do with being given any details any bits of information of their relative. See my posts above.
I cannot believe that both parties have so few qualified people to run for the office that they would both stoop to the levels of Kerry and McCain. Much less still allow them to be part of the ruling class
We need our country back — Our leaders to be truthful. Look how low we’ve fallen.
99% of the posters on this board could not endure 9 days of SERE school, much less years of confinement in Hanoi.
To suggest5 a 5 year VN POW that came home alive is some how not a hero is ludicrous.
It exposes many here as either stupid or blind.
Thanks Trisham.

Douglas Hegdahl III had to be ordered to take an early release. According to his cellmate, Stratton, he did NOT want to do it.
Has McCain EVER said “I turned down an early release because Captain Stockdale ordered me to turn it down”? No, he has not. He has allowed the world to believe it was of his own volition and that makes him a hero.
Of course not, in fact the opposite. I am pointing out the absurdity of those who are using hearsay, fabrications, and internet nonsense to advance their point of view. You do understand the use of the absurdity as an attack of absurdity. I'm looking for these mysterious 31 tapes and the denouncement of McCain by someone who was actually with him as a POW. Still searching, I don't think that they exist.
Bloody Shirt was Jesse Jackson. PT-109 for JFK. Point is still excellent though.
The (D)ummycrats have been doing this forever. Lyndon Johnson for example. Ironically their biggest loser McGovern was actually a war hero.
Certainly they have them. Ponder that. Maybe now everyone can understand where all McCain's treason ( in Congress ) is coming from. Now it should be clear why he threw the election, and especially why he nuked large scale expansion of Vietnam MIA probes and especially getting NVA documents.
Thank God McCain and others could not thwart the Venona cables so at least some of the d*mn Communists have been exposed.
