Like clockwork, gun control advocates always make a big push for their agenda after every mass shooting. The recent shootings in Charleston and Chattanooga are no different. Due to our governments failure to keep firearms out of the hands of mass shooters, President Obama has since called for tighter background checks. But this time he wants to utilize the information tied to Social Security beneficiaries.
Basically, those who are incapable of managing their own affairs wouldnt be allowed to buy a firearm. The new policy would use the same strategy employed by the VA to report certain veterans to the background check system. They take note of anyone who has assigned a fiduciary to manage their pension when theyre not competent enough to do it themselves. The biggest problem with this strategy, is how broad it is. Having memory loss or a brain injury would be enough keep you from buying a gun, even though those conditions are not useful for identifying someone who is crazy or malicious. Imagine if you suffered an injury that prevents you from speaking or writing. It would make sense for you to ask someone else to help you out with your financial affairs, but that might also be enough to prevent you from owning a firearm.
In reality, this is probably just another attempt to find a new pathway for gun control. Theyre trying to chip away the rights of a demographic that isnt as visible to the public, so they can set a precedent for taking away the rights of everyone else later on. This is slippery slope 101.
Too bad his filthy background wasn't thoroughly checked before the imbecilic voters gave him two terms in which to destroy America!
Those who claimed they’re too depressed to work, in order to collect $3000 a month from the government, are going to find that the chickens have come home to roost.
Sounds to me like the article is slamming 100% disabled combat vets with PTSD. Good look taking their guns.
—In reality, this is probably just another attempt to find a new pathway for gun control.—
Probably?
>>Those who claimed theyre too depressed to work, in order to collect $3000 a month from the government, are going to find that the chickens have come home to roost.
Very true. If you place yourself on the government teat, then you go where the government goes. That’s how dependency works.
Besides, what crazy person thinks that a person who has been judged to not be able to handle their own affairs is competent to make the split-second decisions required of a responsible gun owner?
This is Slippery Slope 101, as the article points out, but the slippery slope here is the one that people who sell their freedom for a government check are living on.
Since guns are not the common factor in “gun crime”...
why not make the “urban culture” illegal?
The older folks (I cannot and will not use the S word) and the disabled need the second amendment more than the young and healthy. Read my tag line
Molon Labe you black muslim bassturd.
This is why they love Medicare, social security, drug benefit and other programs that pretend to give you something but are there to gather information about you with which to control you.
Here! Here!
Let’s take it easy on the deceitful Muslim who proudly sits (and sh*ts) in the Oval Orifice.
Instead, we should gang up on the imbeciles who have taken over the Republican party and turned it into just a branch of the Democrat one. (I hate it when articles refer to the Democrat Party as ‘democratic.)
The only thing that will save this now pitiful nation is to take an example from Spain, circa 1936.
But....where is our Franco?
One thing is dead certain. If an emulation of 1936 Spain were to take place the prisons and cemeteries would be full.
Ahhh, Medicare. Every time I see a new doctor, they want to know if my wife beats me.
And they tell me I’m too fat.
Swell. My will has a directive that if I become incapable of conducting my affairs a POA will kick in; if he is unable to perform, it is written that a attorney-in-fact will take over.....I understood that this is a separate document, kept private between me and my attorney.
Lovely. There is nothing sacred anymore.
Do you really think that ‘slob boy’ is going to do anything like this when there are the KKK and the Black Panthers in South Carolina rattling cages????
I wonder what would happen if they marched up Pennsylvania Avenue...he would ‘$hit his pants’ ... one thing to be a ‘muslim brotherhood’ member but another to be part of the ‘black panthers’ and stand up to the KKK??? He doesn’t have the spine....
I remember the KKK and what there was of the black panthers...and I also remember the “skin heads” out of Idaho and Wyoming in the 60’s....not a good time and I sure don’t want to see this happening again...
And I really don’t think any ‘real American’ one who works, fought for their country, lives the real American life would go anywhere near giving in to this ‘slob boy’ anything...he keeps this up and he will get his wish to start a riot but he’ll be the one running away...
I am a senior citizen, retired military, and unfortunately now a Medicare card holder. One doctor asked if I owned any firearms, I said NO. If it comes up later, I will swear he said “tire irons”.
Precisely. But let's not give the GOPe a pass.....they gave us losers...no...insisted upon the GOP candidate be a loser, so the black man could get elected
They never asked me that. I think the question they are supposed to ask if if there are any unsecured firearms about, but it’s none of their business, anyway. “Tire irons”, I like that.
Words fail me when I even attempt to describe the evil that squats in the Oval Orifice. This ‘creature’ is America’s Public Enemy Number ONE; but we have so many enemies showing up in Congress that we’ll never win back control of this desperately pitiful nation.
Yes we will....we have a lot of quite real Americans that won’t let that happen...
My advise: Don’t give your vote to someone until you take the time to listen, document, and watch what that person is saying and doing...and research what that person has done and said in the past on given topics...
We are TRUE AMERICANS and we will OVERCOME this mess...
In the past 19 years, we have been asked at least twice if there were any “firearms” in our home. The first time was when I was in labor with my first.(I made a comment back that female freepers would enjoy but male freepers would cringe). The second time was when my husband was scheduling a colonoscopy.. the doctor asked him over and over about firearms. Finally, my husband said “Doctor, I swear to you that you won’t find a gun up my a##”. Deny, deny, deny and deny.
