Donald Trump said Saturday that "I am not sure that I have" ever asked God for forgiveness, telling the 2015 Iowa Family Leadership Summit that "I just go on and try to do a better job from there.
"I don't think so," Trump, who is Presbyterian, said in response to the question from pollster and summit host Frank Luntz. Trump was among 10 Republican presidential candidates at the daylong event in Ames, Iowa.

He is not acting like Obama, telling us how he will pull back the water and stop global warming. Saving the poor by giving everyone a free phone..
The media are always asking a Republican if they regret being who they are but never a Democrat.
RINO Freepers are supporting Trump, buy the silent majority of conservatives know he’s a fraud.
Wow. I’ve never heard a Christian talk that disrespectfully about his religion. He’s going to offend a lot of Christians with that kind of talk- blasphemous to some. Is there any proof he’s ever been in a church? In all the years he’s been in the media I’ve never heard him talk about religion or believing.
G-d is “a little cracker?” Wow, even Obama has a better grasp of Christianity than this heathen. G-d does not like to be mocked.
He goes to communion and such but believes if he’s done wrong to try and repair the problem rather than just praying to God over it.
He is more a man of action than most.
Is what we have now, Obama, any better?? I ask you?
Onama is a serial lier, a godless poser of Christianity who is destroying this country.
So, you prefer to denegrate someone who “talks” about the real issues instead of those who ignore them, or even worse, tell us that we are “crazies” for even listening to what he has to say?
I would strongly advise you to keep your powder dry and use it for when it is really needed. The debates will separate the wheat from the chaff.
I see the support for Trump not to be for him as a candidate, but for what we think the candidates should stand for, not the mealy mouth crap we are served up by the establishment.
Now, that is a generalized, false statement. Many of us on here are taking a wait-and-see approach. What a stupid comment. I seriously doubt that everyone who thinks he/she is a conservative, is 100% conservative in everything. Most like to pat themselves on the back about how conservative they are compared to others. We know the RINOs from those who aren’t.
Aren’t you a Catholic? You should be more offended by your Pope than Trump.
Amen to that.
But from Newsmax, too????
Et tu, Brutus?
All that Trump has accomplished?
Greasing public officials to use eminent domain in the seizure of private property in order to build himself hotels, casinos, and golf courses.
What a businessman you are worshipping.
Trump is a classic crony capitalist that is helping destroy America all while giving free market economy a bad name. Anyone with a brain knows that his word isn’t worth the toilet paper it’s written on.
“I don’t think I’ve ever asked God for forgiveness....(formally).”
1st Corinthians 11:25 & 26 “....do this in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes back.”
And The Donald said, “Every time I drink the little thing of wine, and eat the little cracker I feel cleansed...”
He could have lied. He could have parsed some BS Clintonesque story. He could have half-truth finnessed it. But he didn’t. He manned up and admitted that he’d never formally asked God for forgiveness....but that he took communion as often as possible, and felt cleansed when he did it.
Yes, there is the subsequent verse regarding partaking of the elements “unworthily”. But the context surely refers to Paul’s scolding the Corinthians for corrupting the communion service into a gluttonous drinking “tie one on” occasion.
Would I prefer that Trump have had an eye popping testimony of getting saved when God personally appeared to him and.....fill in the blanks. But God hasn’t. And Trump opened a window and let us look into his soul. What I saw was a sinner just like me, who is walking the strait and narrow the best he can, ACCORDING TO THE TEACHING HE’S HAD THROUGH LIFE. And God isn’t finished with Trump. In fact, I think God’s actually just getting started with him.
On the upside, he isn’t sitting there talking up the dangers of porno or explaining how big of a Christian he is like Santorum used to do, and how Huckabee is doing today.
I hope Trump is indeed a work in progress with God, but we’re not electing a Pope here. The only time I’d take exception to a candidate’s religion is if he is something clearly dangerous, such as a Muslim or a member of a religious cult. Although an atheist would be unacceptable no matter how good his or her politics is.
“What are you, some sort of Democrat operative?
/s”
Ha! I’ve been accused of it by some of FR’s most devoted Trumpettes.
What has Trump accomplished? He took his father’s fortune and underperformed. During the recession he had to take a company bankrupt and his signature casino failed. He had to be bailed out in the 1990s or he would have been personally ruined. He whored himself out to reality TV. Like a rapper, he has several children by three different women. Like a rspper, hes most know for bragging incessantly. He’s turned into an effeminate diva in his old age. He’s a mid-level NYC real estate developer. So what all has Trump accompilshed. All that and he is older than Hillary.
You guys are really desperate. Who are you supporting anyway? Can’t be Cruz, because even Cruz isn’t maniacally bashing Trump. Must be Walker or one of the other candidates, as they’re the only ones with the air of desperation and pettiness to them.
He may be a man of action, but everyone of us needs forgiveness. I’m not sure what he is hearing at the church he attends, but, it doesn’t sound like they preach or teach God’s love and forgiveness. Trump is extremely arrogant, and having said that - God looks at the heart. He very well may turn off Christian believers, but, I do like the fact that he came out strong for the Christians in the Middle East who are under such dire persecution. What other candidate has done that? Maybe Cruz, but, I can’t verify that either. You see - God will use who he will use - and yes, that includes an arrogant, self-sufficient man such as Trump. People seem to forget - we aren’t voting for a pastor of a church. We do need someone who believes in God, but, if I had to choose between Trump and Huckleberry - who is a Baptist minister - gosh, I’d have to go with Trump for president and Huckleberry for a pastorship.
