I haven heard anyone screaming about irresponsible snake owners. Unless you mean the ones who’s snakes have escaped and now are living and breeding in the Florida woods. Surely those people didn’t let those snakes out to play and they wandered away!
The snakes in Florida are a result of a breeding facility that was destroyed in hurricane Andrew. And yes, there is a lot of screaming about irresponsible snake owners. Sadly, there really aren’t that many that are irresponsible but we’ve taken the brunt of libelous assault for years. As an example, read the minutes from the legislature in WV last year concerning the passage of the Dangerous Wild Animals Act. It is utterly shameful what they said. None of it true but they used their lies to justify passage of a very bad law.
A tropical fish store out my way once had a blue-ringed octopus for sale.

I saw a video on the venomous Platypus. Who ever heard of a venomous mammal??? Australia. Scary beyond belief, it is so painful you wish it would kill you.
You’d be surprised, really.

Australia is an amazing place that I never want to visit.
:)
Interesting about shrews having venomous saliva (strong enough to kill mice, apparently). I’ve caught short-tail shrews in mousetraps in my garage before, had no idea they were venomous.
