An Arkansas GOP Senator left his wife for a younger woman, it was a factor in his defeat in 2002. Vitter seems to have survived the scandal just fine.

The attitude is a Louisiana thing, “Laissez les Bontemps roulet.” They’ll tolerate some indiscretions by their political figures, so long as it doesn’t overtly and negatively impact the state.
