Metal fan charged for wearing fake bullet belt

US cops say they reacted because Boston bus passengers panicked – leading to court appearance for 26-year-old

A 26-year-old metal fan was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday, for wearing a fake bullet belt.

Kevin Young was apprehended after he boarded a bus wearing the traditional heavy music fan’s garb, along with spiked gloves and bracelets.

He’s was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct – but the charges were later dropped.

A police report says cops only acted because others on board the bus panicked and called for help – claiming Young was carrying a gun.

Boston Police Department report: “Officers responded to a call for a person with a gun. The driver had pulled the bus over as passengers began calling 911, when a male suspect boarded the bus with what appeared to be military-grade ammunition strapped around his waist.

“The driver stated the passengers were in a panic, fearing that the suspect was about to pull out a weapon.

“Kevin Young exited the bus and was stopped by police, at which time it was discovered the ammunition was fake.”

Officers say they recovered “69 replica bullets” and describe Young’s arm decoration as “spiked fighting gloves.”

The charges were dropped after prosecutors established that the bullets “could not and were not intended to be fired,” said a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

Bullet belt, spiked gloves, bracelets, black clothing with leather jacket, long heavy key chain...I think I saw this guy in the subway this afternoon!

I love our FReeper metal heads.
Venom and Deicide are fantastic. I used to like some RATT, but I pretty much avoided the teeny bopper metal a la Bin Jovi and poison. I still like old WASP, they were a class act. I mostly go for the thrash/death metal stuff still when I’m not enjoying classic rock or southern rock or Frank Zappa or Johhny Cash. Our metal scene in Tokyo is vibrant and I go to gigs all the time. Check out Hell Freezes Over and Endall and Sigh on YouTube, and you’ll want to come visit.

CC Deville was a laughably bad guitar player, a true poser. The guy who played for Ratt (I’m blanking on his name) was truly talented, OTOH.

I worked as a stage hand for a Cannibal Corpse and Misfits show back around 1993. It was brutally loud and I wasn’t into the genre but it was pretty entertaining to witness. There was some kind of drama going on between Glen Danzig and the rest of the Misfits at the time. The guy who was acting as lead singer came out and first thing he did was walk up the mic and hold up a letter had just received from Danzig. He read it and the audience booed at what Danzig had written (probably demanding they cease and desist from performing as the Misfits) and then they went on with the show.

“Venom and Deicide are fantastic.”

Love Venom. I play them until now to wake me up. i get flak throughout my life that states Christians should not and cannot stand death metal. heck, I had Venom CD’s passed on to me by my older brother and he saw Venom live in canada. Then comes the “yeah but they have satan on the cover..” well, duh do you see me drinking blood? LOL Besides, Cronos said all the devil stuff was just an act. If I listen to Hammer Smashed face by CC, do you see me go out and hammering people in the face? Retards all...

I saw danzig live in 03 or 04 and 07. The latter wasn’t as hardcore as the first and yeah, supposedly he’s a dick but no one cared as they were awesome shows. I prefer Glen over Graves but it could be me. I always like original singers over the replacements. Cannibal Corpse for example, Barnes is better than Corpsegrinder but over the years, I seem to appreciate Corpsegrinder more and more...

Shouldn’t someone have been charged with filing a false police report since he did not have a gun?

“So they charged him anyway. “

In the enlightened Commonwealth of Massachusetts possession of ammo components requires a state-issued license. So a reloadable shell casing and a bullet require a license. They COULD have arrested him for that, posession without a license. He lucked out, or perhaps the dummy rounds had been rendered un-reloadable. So they arrest him THEN examine the fake ammo (probable cause) then let him go.

I was listening to a guy give a Christian testimony. He said he was a huge metal fan but when he came to Christ, he was convicted to the point where he throw all his metal tapes out the window on the way to church.

When my turn came, I talked about a great Christian brother who fell into Satan worship after finding some metal tapes in a ditch next to a road. He fell for it briefly.
