Siri Corrects Anyone Trying to Call Caitlyn Jenner "Bruce"

Siri has been known to have quite the sassy remarks when asked questions she doesn't like - such as zero divided by zero - but she can also be quite informative about nuanced issues when she wants to be.

Anyone looking to call Caitlyn Jenner by her former name Bruce, will be immediately corrected by Siri. For example, asking "How tall is Bruce Jenner" will get you the straightforward response of "Caitlyn Jenner is 6'2 tall."

The question "What gender is Bruce Jenner?" prompts "The answer is female."

It took my reading down a few posts to figure it out myself. I have no use for these things so I am out of the loop.

Is SIRI being politically correct on Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner? Perhaps, perhaps not. I don't think it's being so deliberately, but rather it depends on what database SIRI finds the answer to the specific question.

The Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner response when asking "How tall is Bruce Jenner?" comes from Wolfram Alpha the primary source of such data. . . but if you ask Siri "Who is Bruce Jenner" Siri responds with a legitimate Wikipedia biography response on Bruce Jenner, not Caitlyn Jenner.

it appears that it is a bit schizophrenic, depending on the database source of the answer being linked into, and the political correctness of the organization maintaining the database. Looks like a crap shoot to me. It does not look as if Siri has been deliberately programed to answer one way or the other on Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner. — PING!

He aggravates me as well. The one major lesson he failed to learn from Steve jobs was to leave politics at home, or at least at the office parking lot gate. Steve knew that you never mixed politics and business, ever. Jobs once told a Democrat activist that he would never allow Apple to make political donations or take political stances, especially on Democrat issues because, he said "Half of our customers are Republicans. . . and I don't want to piss off half of Apple's customers!" That was the same reason Jobs cut off most charitable donations except for matching employee donations. . . there was no way to please everyone's pet projects without picking and choosing and making enemies for not picking theirs.

All political donations with Apple association were made by the Apple Employees' Political Action Committee, an independent organization, entirely separate from Apple.

And Microsoft still has a stranglehold on the office software market (even if you use a Mac). There are other products,but you can’t use them to communicate with your partners/clients, etc.

I’ve used a Mac since 1984. But I do not use the other Apple products, especially not the frou-frou “gay” inspired ones!!!!

Since Apple marketing is geared to the “high-design” market, they tend to ignore conservative Mac-only customers like me (except for the business account people at my local Apple Store).

I think that is the case. . . as I said, the data Siri will use is the source of how she will answer the basic response. . . not that Siri has been specifically programed to change the question for the questioner.

I am curious how Cortana, or "Hey, Google" would respond to the same questions. Anybody?
