C-SPAN has plans to host a forum that is open to all of the Republican candidates for president just days before a Fox News debate that will include the top 10 candidates.
In protest to Fox's decision to invite only 10 of the GOP candidates for president (there are 15 confirmed), a group of newspaper publishers from the New Hampshire Union Leader, the South Carolina Post and Courier, and the Iowa Gazette will co-host the Voters First Forum in New Hampshire on Aug. 3, reports The Hill.

So is this like the “kiddies table” debate?
Don’t know how I feel on the top 10 vs all?
If your at the bottom there could be one thing you say that bumps you up a notch so ???
What are the bottom 5 candidates trying to do get out of last place? Nothing. They have been criticizing Trump, but only when someone bothered to ask.
ROFL ROFL
Great idea. CSPAN can give a lot of time to the forum. Let’s not worry about the large number of candidates or how they will perform.
Yes, we put.
The RNC rules say that if the candidates participate in any unsanctioned debates, they are excluded from all future debates. Assuming the RNC looks at this as a ‘debate’, I don’t think they are going to get a very good turnout.
well put
I think Fox erred in basing their selection on polls....they should have them all up to bat as well.
Sick of the talking heads determining what’s important to the rest of us. And yes those polls are in no way manipulated, right? Let them all attend...up to us to decide, even if relegated to the kiddie table ;)
Also want the benefit of seeing the bottom tier for myself, not because some news outlet, in their infinite wisdom, decides for us, because we’re incapable of doing so.
How about all the demon-rat candidates too?
All of the worthless pubbies will get together to bash The Donald or My Man Ted.
With a few rare exceptions, these are pests who couldn’t currently get elected to ANYTHING.
Why not battle it out in local forums, like the playoffs.
Can’t carry your home state? buh-byeee!
We could get rid of half these losers in the first week.
Then get the winners to battle on substance in the finals.
I agree completely with the premise that this is waaaaay too early to have any kind of "debate" with only nationally known or recognized people running who "count" in any "nationwide top ten list!"
The only people who would count on this list are those lucky enough to have nationally recognized names (ala JEB, Marco, Christie, many Ben Carson and now Trump) and I personally think that FOX is surely trying to give JEB some kind of daylight he doesn't deserve but FOX seems intent on pushing JEB, Marco and maybe now Walker but everyone else will not poll in any national "poll."
Besides, as we all can agree here, the only folk "polled" are those with land lines who actually answer a pollster and respond to some of their questions.
I do have inside knowledge to how this game is played and early on they (pollsters, MSM, et al) do not go after actual primary voters but merely those who normally would be watching "So You Think You Can Dance," "Sharknado" or other and haven't a clue as to what genuine issues are and who has any record of either being for or against national/international issues.
Let people who want, go to C-Span, no matter how biased they are and actually see who these candidates are and how they comport themselves.
What's to hide here, America is a great leveler of issues and ideas. Anyone who has a problem with having everyone on stage or at a table tell of his or her proposals for moving beyond the malaise of Obamacare/Iranian Nukes/Illegal Invasions, etc.
Besides America is still a free country, at least for a few more minutes!!!
“Assuming the RNC looks at this as a debate, I dont think they are going to get a very good turnout.”
Never mind - I see this is clearly just a ‘forum’ and shouldn’t affect their participation in sanctioned debates.
Huh?
When has anything on CSPAN ever exceeded a similar program on Fox? Plus with ratings magnet Trump on the Fox debates, but not confirmed for CSPAN, the Fox debate is guaranteed to easily eclipse the CSPAN debate in ratings
Think money and audience. If it’s designed to be for a national audience on a network, it’s going to be called a ‘debate’.
Panel discussions like the one in Iowa this weekend will likely yield more info about the candidates, but won’t show up beyond C-Span. And Bush and Paul won’t be there.
Who will be the moderator? Obama or Valerie? Maybe Nancy Pelosi?
