Yes, Trump Tops GOP Poll, But Would Lose to Hillary
Weekly Standard ^ | 07/14/2015 | Michael Warren

Businessman and TV personality Donald Trump tops the latest Suffolk University/USA Today poll of the Republican presidential primary. Trump has 17 percent support among likely GOP primary voters nationwide, edging out former Florida governor Jeb Bush with 14 percent. The remaining candidates earn support in the single digits.

But while Trump currently reigns in the primary, he would lose double-digits against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. In a head-to-head match-up, Clinton would beat Trump 51 percent to 34 percent, according to the poll.

"Clinton was not as strong in matchups against other Republicans," according to the Suffolk press release. "Bush was her closest rival in a matchup that included all voters polled, trailing the former New York senator by a 4 percent margin, 46 percent to 42 percent, with 13 percent undecided. Clinton led all GOP contenders but polled below 50 percent against the top six, with the exception of Trump."

Yes...I saw that too....pulled in over 2000. I’m watching Trump pretty closely, not because he’s my choice but he has a place in this election cycle that’s good for everyone...including the other candidates...even if some might not think so.

They all would lose to Hillary, but that isn’t the point right now.

I like Cruz, then Walker, but I think only Trump has the F You origin in tha campaign. You can’t shame a bombast. You can’t threaten a billionaire with money or lost business. He owes NOTHING to the GOPe, even if he shares some of their views. So far, he appears to be the only one who can win a lot of Dem bites, and he would be ruthless against Cankles or the geriatric Sanders.

As evidenced in the 1980 election spreadsheet, the key is how the voters will be leaning after Labor Day. If Hillary is still wiping the floor with the GOP, then we have cause to worry.

Well we’ll have to see if he can maintain his momentum sufficient to carry him to the end zone...we all know that ride has highs and lows along the way. ....time will surely tell.

If Trump does/doesn’t get the nomination, perhaps someone will run over Hitlary with a bus and keep us all out of our misery ...

“Were you even alive and paying attention back then?”

My first vote was for Goldwater. I was a prosecutor and HEAVILY involved in politics from the get go. I do nothing BUT pay attention.

Every politician is insulted by the other side. How on EARTH do you think that makes them synonymous?

Trump is NOTHING like Reagan. Trump is a clown and an idiot. No one outside a small cadre of supporters will vote for him. Assuming he gets nominated (he won’t) he will get absolutely no more than 35-38% of the popular vote. He will devastate the Republican hold on Congress.

To equate Trump with Reagan is a true insult to one of our great Presidents.

I wasn’t equating Reagan with Trump. I was saying that back in Reagan’s time, we was trashed in the same irrational manner by the liberals and the establishment GOP as we are seeing with Trump. Not trying insult Reagan. He was the greatest.

Throw in that bunch of lip wristed leftist at National Review as well. GOP Party shills.

I like the way Trump is telling it like it is instead of the pandering BS the Uniparty shovels. That being said Trump has a long way to go to get my vote. Cruz still has my vote, possibly Walker.

“I just can’t believe that half of this country is supporting Hillary. It really makes me lose all hope.”

Well don’t. The other half doesn’t support Hitlery. The glass is half full.

Panflashes flame out when they run out of fuel. Trump’s fuel is his $Billion warchest and his bombastic personality. Neither of those will run out.

I hear ya. And I’ll give ya that. It is a point to be made for sure

he was the greatest indeed. I tend not to fire off but the “are you paying attention” did it.

These are trying times my friend and, sometimes, we all fire off a little bit. ; )

All the best to you.

I do not agree that Trump is the only one communicating the correct message.

Don’t worry, 10 billion dollars can uncover a lot of dirt.
