Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) and real-estate mogul Donald Trump -- each running for the Republican presidential nomination as anti-establishment outsiders -- are cultivating an already chummy relationship at this early stage of the 2016 race and will huddle Wednesday in New York.
The meeting was confirmed by Republicans familiar with both campaigns who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations. Aides to Cruz declined to comment, as did Trump representatives.
The meeting will take place at Trump Tower, the gleaming Manhattan skyscraper where Trump has for decades managed his business endeavors, according to knowledgeable Republicans. The building now serves as the headquarters for Trumps national political operation.
The conclave is the latest sign of budding solidarity between the contenders, who have been friendly for several years and who have put forceful critiques of illegal immigration and their partys establishment at the center of their bids.
In recent weeks, Cruz has defended remarks Trump made on immigrants over the past month that have drawn rebukes from leading Democrats and Republicans. Trump said in his announcement speech that when "Mexico sends its people," it sends people who are "bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists."
While other Republicans called Trumps words "offensive and inaccurate" (Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida) or "extraordinarily ugly" (former Florida governor Jeb Bush), Cruz praised Trump as someone who is "terrific" and "speaks the truth."
Asked about Cruz in an interview over the weekend, Trump told The Washington Post, "I really respect him for saying what he did."
Earlier this month on CNN, Trump said, "I shouldn't say this because, I assume, he's an opponent, but the fact is he was very brave in coming out."
Cruz has previously met with the mogul at Trump Tower, mostly during fundraising swings through New York.
Republicans close to Cruz said the first-term senator is intent on staying cozy with Trump

Hey CJ, agree with your post 45, it is exciting news.
My Christian analogy is that Trump is John the Baptist, paving the way but yet not worthy of tying Cruz’s sandals :)
Same here. I'd be happy with any of them. Cruz is my first choice.
I can't see Trump lasting for long. He has no coherent ideology. That should be apparent after the first debate.
But why do I have the feeling he will be the only one talking at the first debate?
Because he is a hysterical Reality TV diva, whose core skill is getting attention?
Got me what’s going on. I’d say mutual support and talking about hypotheticals during and after the primary. Playing with the heads in the eGOPe? Hope so. ;-)
Cruz attended high school at Faith West Academy in Katy, Texas,[27] and later graduated from Second Baptist High School in Houston as valedictorian in 1988.[26][28][29] During high school, Cruz participated in a Houston-based group called the Free Market Education Foundation where he learned about free-market economic philosophers such as Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, Frédéric Bastiat and Ludwig von Mises.[30] The program was run by Rolland Storey and Cruz entered the program at the age of 13.[24]
Cruz graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy[31] from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1992.[4][6] While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society’s Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship.[32] In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year, as well as Team of the Year, with his debate partner, David Panton.[32] Cruz and Panton represented Harvard Law School at the 1995 World Debating Championship, making it to the semi-finals, where they lost to a team from Australia.[33][34][35] Princeton’s debate team later named their annual novice championship after Cruz.[35]
Cruz’s senior thesis on the separation of powers, titled “Clipping the Wings of Angels,” draws its inspiration from a passage attributed to President James Madison: “If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.” Cruz argued that the drafters of the Constitution intended to protect the rights of their constituents, and that the last two items in the Bill of Rights offer an explicit stop against an all-powerful state. Cruz wrote: “They simply do so from different directions. The Tenth stops new powers, and the Ninth fortifies all other rights, or non-powers.”[36][37]
After graduating from Princeton, Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree.[6][38] While at Harvard Law, he was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, and executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.[4] Referring to Cruz’s time as a student at Harvard Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz said, “Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant.”[39][40] At Harvard Law, Cruz was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics.[10]

We’ll see. I suspect they’re playing cat and mouse with Walker at this point.
The main street coalition would likely consist of Trump, Cruz, Jindal, Fiorina, and Carson. Yeb, Rubio, Christie, Linda, Pataki, and Perry will be the other k street faction. Wildcards are Paul and Walker.
Good news any way you cut it.
No we didn't. Trump talked it up from early in the year and then announced on May 16 that he would not be running. Seems we are a little past May 16 this year and he has actually declared his candidacy. He never declared his candidacy in 2011 or any other year until now.
Impressive.
Nothing but GOOD can come from this.
Here is lunch.
Trump Restaurants (located in Trump Tower and consisting of Trump Buffet, Trump Catering, Trump Ice Cream Parlor, and Trump Bar),
After 2nd DV posted the wiki for Cruz went to trumps. Too long to post
Trump can’t afford to be President for 2 terms so have him coach Cruz for 4 years until he can take over. They would be a hard team to beat.
Pray America is waking
I think you just spoke for 90 percent of the people on this Website.
Boy what I would pay to be there!
Or Cruz/Trump with Sarah as Chief of Staff.
I am sure we can play to our strengths and kick some liberal ass!
Cruz is solid as a rock and Trump puts people on fire. Together they might be the fire on the mountain...

First Co-Presidency ever.

First Co-Presidency ever.
IIRC Paul has already visited the Tower
I’d be happy with that, but only if Cruz promises to resign the Vice Presidency when the first opening comes up for the Supreme Court.
Whoever led the dance it would have to be a unique understanding.
