Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) and real-estate mogul Donald Trump -- each running for the Republican presidential nomination as anti-establishment outsiders -- are cultivating an already chummy relationship at this early stage of the 2016 race and will huddle Wednesday in New York.
The meeting was confirmed by Republicans familiar with both campaigns who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations. Aides to Cruz declined to comment, as did Trump representatives.
The meeting will take place at Trump Tower, the gleaming Manhattan skyscraper where Trump has for decades managed his business endeavors, according to knowledgeable Republicans. The building now serves as the headquarters for Trumps national political operation.
The conclave is the latest sign of budding solidarity between the contenders, who have been friendly for several years and who have put forceful critiques of illegal immigration and their partys establishment at the center of their bids.
In recent weeks, Cruz has defended remarks Trump made on immigrants over the past month that have drawn rebukes from leading Democrats and Republicans. Trump said in his announcement speech that when "Mexico sends its people," it sends people who are "bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists."
While other Republicans called Trumps words "offensive and inaccurate" (Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida) or "extraordinarily ugly" (former Florida governor Jeb Bush), Cruz praised Trump as someone who is "terrific" and "speaks the truth."
Asked about Cruz in an interview over the weekend, Trump told The Washington Post, "I really respect him for saying what he did."
Earlier this month on CNN, Trump said, "I shouldn't say this because, I assume, he's an opponent, but the fact is he was very brave in coming out."
Cruz has previously met with the mogul at Trump Tower, mostly during fundraising swings through New York.
Republicans close to Cruz said the first-term senator is intent on staying cozy with Trump

“1 Cruz and 1 Trump = 8 Other Clowns or more.”
Debate Strategy. They’re going to be a tag team and decimate the rest of those (most of whom are worthless) folks. As for Walker, he needs to stay in Wisconsin and continue to take out the RAT trash. He’s young enough that his turn will come, only later.
Megan just said Ted Cruz will be on her program tomorrow night. He is going to be busy in NYC tomorrow.
Isn't he 3 yrs older than the Cruzer?
I would steer clear of Trump if I were Cruz. Maybe Cruz is asking Trump for a donation to his campaign. Trump will be out of the race before Thanksgiving.
Trump and Cruz must have seen my posts...
Trump/Cruz would be the most dynamic and exciting ticket in 36 years.
vastly
Koch brothers have courage and character.
Trump never had a boss for 50 years, I doubt he wants one at age 70. Cruz is a young man in mid-40’s. He needs the executive experience working inside the executive branch.
A friend and I made fake resumes for each of the candidates placing each in a cabinet place if not chosen for.P or VP
Its a strong bench with many excellent qualified people. Each has an area of expertise but not necessarily qualification to run a YUG international multifaceted conglomerate
And no agenda....riiight.
This is really getting INTERESTING....
Qui audet adipiscitur
Trump is approaching 70.
Time to turn it over to the brilliant one.
.
BLEEP!
:>)
You’re always good for a smile, FRiend.
Trump is too old.
He knows a brilliant leader when he sees one in Ted Cruz.
Need a 3rd party anyway to counter this two-sides-same-coin party [singular[ in place today. Took the Rinos all of a 1/2 hour to screw over those who put them in place last election.
Remember: as much as you despise Washington.. it’s no match in relation to how much they despise you.

MORON!
33 posts before someone hit on what I think is the reason, the debates.
It’s too early for a team-up.
BUT, it would be fun to watch everyone go crazy.
Thanks for the links. The Trump article is lengthy but quite worth the read. It clearly explains how and why there is no difference between Dims/Pubs...the opportunities Pubs have had to repair 0’s damage, yet have not.
They’re ALL in it, together.
