ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay His speeches can blend biblical fury with apocalyptic doom. Pope Francis does not just criticize the excesses of global capitalism. He compares them to the dung of the devil. He does not simply argue that systemic greed for money is a bad thing. He calls it a subtle dictatorship that condemns and enslaves men and women.
Having returned to his native Latin America, Francis has renewed his left-leaning critiques on the inequalities of capitalism, describing it as an underlying cause of global injustice, and a prime cause of climate change. Francis escalated that line last week when he made a historic apology for the crimes of the Roman Catholic Church during the period of Spanish colonialism even as he called for a global movement against a new colonialism rooted in an inequitable economic order.
The Argentine pope seemed to be asking for a social revolution.
This is not theology as usual; this is him shouting from the mountaintop, said Stephen F. Schneck, the director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic studies at Catholic University of America in Washington.
The last pope who so boldly placed himself at the center of the global moment was John Paul II, who during the 1980s pushed the church to confront what many saw as the challenge of that era, communism. John Paul IIs anti-Communist messaging dovetailed with the agenda of political conservatives eager for a tougher line against the Soviets and, in turn, aligned part of the church hierarchy with the political right.

This Pope lost his mind. He will destroy the Church. This is a man of God? What God?
Has this Pope ever done anything to promote the cause of Christ?Somebody help me out here, because I can’t think of anything.
I agree, but if you read all he said, albeit reported by a different source, what he is saying is fairly different than on what is reported (I know, imagine that!).
I expect that the Catholic Church will give away all its money now.
Francis, I didn’t realize you are so dumb. Please, please, shut your pie hole.
Pope Pius XI said: “No one can be at the same time a sincere Catholic and a true socialist.”
‘The longer Francis hangs around as Pope, the more conservative Catholics will probably abandon the RCC. They almost have no real choice.’
Respectfully disagree... THIS conservative Roman Catholic is rather having a good time battling the lefty parishioners in MY Church....
I do not believe in running from a fight.
Il Douche’
Francis is a NUT
Same here. I listen to him on faith and morals and nothing else. Popes come and go in the Church. The doctrine never changes. His personal views are his personal views and I am not obligated to agree with any of them and I don’t.
No, just not in favor of anti-capitalism or global warming proponents.

On arrival in La Paz, Pope Francis was presented by Bolivian President Evo Morales with a wooden crucifix carved in the form of a hammer and sickle, the symbol of Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Fidel.
Had Pope John Paul II been handed that crucifix, he might have cracked it over Evo’s head. For John Paul II had seen up close what communism did — to his country, his church and his people in 45 years of Bolshevik rule.
On his arrival in the Nicaragua of Daniel Ortega in 1983, Pope John Paul castigated a priest-collaborator who dared to serve that Sandinista Marxist regime as culture minister.
And, while in Managua, he warned Catholics they were being threatened by “unacceptable ideological commitments.”
Today we have a pope for whom free-market capitalism is the “unacceptable ideological commitment.” Read the rest at link.
“I agree, but if you read all he said, albeit reported by a different source, what he is saying is fairly different than on what is reported (I know, imagine that!).”
I looked at some other sources, and he does not come off as leftist as the NYTs makes him out to be.
Imagine that. The NYTs is not a reliable source...

Global Warming on Free Republic here, here, and here
Read #72. Pat Buchanan. Francis is as leftist as they come.
The total opposite of JP2.
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope?
Do you think he's a fool?
Hank
Jesus told Pilate that His kingdom was not of this world.
Jesus did not insert Himself into the political arena. He came to save us from our sins, and when people follow Christ, they will do what is right naturally, as that is the fruit of the Spirit.
The pope needs to mind his own business and focus on running his own church and straightening out the mess that it is in first, before he goes preaching to others about fixing up their problems.
One piece of property.
Did that include the contents, or just the property itself?
You’re not convincing anyone about the wealth of the RCC except other Catholics who don’t want to believe anything bad about their church.
“Stay outta Da Jesuits!!”
