The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has unanimously approved a resolution to end the organisation's ban on gay adults working as leaders.
The group's National Executive Board will meet to ratify the resolution on 27 July, the Boy Scouts said in a statement.
It is a major step towards ending a policy that has caused deep rifts in the group, which was set up in 1910.
The BSA voted to end a ban on allowing open gay boys to become scouts in 2013.
Earlier this year, former US defence secretary Robert Gates, who is BSA president, told the group's national meeting that the ban on gay adults needed to end, saying it was no longer sustainable.

While I like your fighting spirit, this fight is over. The communists have completed their 78 year "long march through the institutions" with today's announcement by the BSA. We are officially a post-Christian nation. The MSM, Hollywood, academia, Fortune 500 board rooms, not-profit-foundations, and churches have been undermined from within. The Millennial Generation is the "Lost" Generation. They just don't have "it" to recognize the truth. My generation, the "Boomers", stomped the accelerator during the 1960s to bring us where we are today. Hold onto your church and family, everything else will soon be gone with the wind.
The predators have always been there, but now they will flock there. I assume the parents keeping their boys there will be having an auction.

I was a blue bird when I was a kid. Only women were leaders.
Regardless, I think it is very foolish to send your boy camping with a homosexual man. At minimum you are asking the boy to hold him up as an example. That is flat out wrong. I wouldn’t want a lesbian as a leader either, but at least there is no risk she might be sexually attracted to him.
It means 2 things -
1. National BSA HQ in Irving, TX, needs Fortune 500 $$$ donations to keep the lights on. The Human Rights Campaign, founded in 1980, has completely penetrated the Fortune 500 board rooms.
2. National BSA will no longer be able to stand up to the threatened lawfare that the LGBT contingent will bring.
Allow is the key word there. Very soon the board will decide that they will no longer allow them to choose their leaders.
It broke in the news last week that many churches are questioning their liability insurance carriers whether they have coverage against lawsuits brought by homosexuals who are denied the right to marry in their churches. The early prognosis is that the liability coverage will not cover the churches in these matters. The LGBTs may well choose to pursue this path against churches which charter scouting units but do not recognize homosexual marriage. Will be interesting to watch the Roman Catholic Church - the 3rd largest sponsor of Boy Scouting units in the U.S.
Good thinking - like the churches who might stand to lose their 501(c)3 status if they continue to oppose the LGBT.
Come to think of it I guess I did know that. They are called “Den mothers”? But they don’t go camping with the kids, do they? I could see it with young kids but this day and age it seems foolish to do with older ones.
There is a Lucy Show episode with Lucy and Viv taking a bunch of scouts camping. Too bad we’ve lost our innocence what with teachers having affairs with students and all.
These days you can’t even trust your church. Welcome to the sexual revolution. It is only going to get worse. Whatever risks parents are willing to take with their kids, it is foolish to send your boy camping with a homosexual boy or man. You are asking for trouble. You might as well send your husband camping with Pamela Anderson or someone like that. It makes as much sense.

Are you talking about non-homo troops camping alongside troops with homos?
If so, it creates a bit of a problem...straight leaders are going to have take turns keeping watch I suppose.
IMO, I don’t think there will be that many that come right out and admit they’re homo...they’ll do what most predators do, slink around, waiting for the right moment.
This is especially dangerous because the good leaders won’t really know who to be keeping an eye on...and then we’ll be accused of discriminating for doing so...so be it.
No damned homo is coming anywhere near any kid in my charge...under any circumstances.

There wasn’t any mystery to anyone at the District, Council or National level about where I stand on the matter either.
I’ll see these last few Scouts through and finish up my commitment to my friend, but that’s that...I just can’t compromise with these bxxxxxds any longer.
They just won’t listen to reason.

Okay. Accreditation, and all those kinds of things have never bothered me. The spiritual and moral safety of my children are more important.
