Key quote:
But she says that the GOP establishment has underestimated the depth of contempt that many conservatives have for the partys leaders in Congress.

Its harder to understand his appeal
Awwwwww. John Fund is going to sprain his brain, just like Peggy Noonan:
Peggy Noonan spends some ink today (subscription) trying to understand why Donald Trump is suddenly so popular, at least in the polls.
Peg will strain her brain trying to understand.
Trump is resonating in flyover country, because he is voicing concerns of many of the people in flyover country.
Peg can't see beyond the DC Beltway/Eastern Liberal environs.

According to the ruling establishment Trump is crude and not PC for telling the people the truth. His message is common knowledge and I hope he survives to carry out what he says he'll do as president. My pick for his cabinet; Ted Cruz as his VP, Ron Paul as his Treasury Secretary, Sarah Palin as his Secretary of State, Col Allen West as his Defense Secretary and Judge Roy Moore or Judge Andrew Napolitano as his AG and Sheriff Joe Arpairo as his DHS chief.

Hello, National Review, we are sick of the traitorous Republicans in Congress. We are sick of the whining and blaming from the Left. Trump is a fresh voice who is speaking plainly to an audience that is starved for plain-speaking. Quit wallowing around trying to figure it out. That’s it.

What I don’t understand is how these lock-jawed, white bread writers don’t understand The Donald’s wonderfully droll sense of humor - it is classic NYC, Jewish humor with a bit of street smarts and Rush Limbaugh-like egotism thrown in for good measure. The pearl-clutching and fainting-couch collapses are either a sign of humorlessness that is expected in Washington circles or a cynical attempt to convince voters not to pay attention to Trump. I’m not voting for the guy but he breaks me up. He’s always made me laugh. He’s a very funny guy.

Trump scored big when he said the GOP in Congress complains about Benghazi and the IRS scandal but then seems to forget about them, And Donald, what the hell have you done outside of running your trap now that you are running for president?

"When I pointed out that Trump never presents any evidence for his charges that the Mexican government deliberately sends rapists and killers to the U.S. ... "Really? Is it the job of "reporters" to point out their agenda? Perhaps that is why we almost never hear any criticism of obummer.

Trump has overcome all his negatives by basically telling a little truth about an issue that everyone else wants to ignore. It's too bad that on this issue the truth is not considered "mainstream," but that's not Trump's fault.
As far as "anger" is concerned, progressives value their own anger as a sign of righteous indignation, but deny the same emotion to others, labeling it a pathology.

At some point people are too angry to bother voting anymore.

Read the title of the post. Is it possible that people want to hear Trump's message because that is what they believe too???
Trump is a populist and has his ear tuned to the national feedback. The general population finds that they agree with Trump's stance on illegal immigration despite years of "right think" propoganda from politicians and the LSM. Also there are many "blue dog dims" who find they agree with Trump which may create a significant crossover vote, just like in Ronald Reagan's case.
His success is starting to mirror Ronald Reagan's. The pundits wrote Reagan off because he wasn't part of the inner circle of career politicians. They are doing the same to Trump.
Am I equating Trump's politics to Ronald Reagans? Certainly not, but I am comparing the process of their rise in the political world.

The headline says it all. Trump is not going to be the nominee but he is kicking the crap out of the low rent phonies people like Fund want to see in the White House.
I guess Fund would rather Trump tell people we should surrender to Mexico having that horse face Frenchy negotiate the deal.
