When Donald Trump described Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug smugglers last month, Latinos took to social media to express their outrage and urge businesses to sever ties with the billionaire presidential candidate.
In short order, more than 10 organizations canceled their deals with Trump, in what Latino activists are calling an unprecedented recognition of their economic clout.
Latino spending power will hit $1.5 trillion this year, up 50 percent from 2010, according to the Nielsen Co, which analyzes consumer spending trends.
At an average age of 27, the Hispanic population is a decade younger than the U.S. average and just entering the prime of its earning power, market researchers said....

Guess where the baa turds are getting the money to have “clout”.
I love stories like this... What, they won’t buy Chinese made Trump ties at Macy’s which are being removed? His major stakes are in property. How do you boycott property? You overpay for the building next door?
I gotta admit, this is a pretty empty threat. But I’m sure it makes liberals feel great writing it.
Only, there’s that pesky thing: Legal immigrants do not, as a whole, like illegals. They’re rather partial to not being jumped by illegals who are part of gangs. They really dislike the random shootings, the heroin trafficking, and of course, that ever popular pastime of rape.
It is, like always, liberals projecting what they desperately wish.
You mean, the 11 million illegal figure that has been quoted for 10 years is bogus? Are you trying to tell me that all those people crossing the border illegally are citizens?
And no, those in California are not born citizens.
“Latino spending power will hit $1.5 trillion this year..”
Really? How many lawns is that?
I pay my lawnmower guy $25 a week to mow my lawn. He’s a young black guy, and I hired him because he knocked on my door and asked if he could work on my yard. I hired him instantly. Nice fellow and he does good work.
I also pay Asian guys to cook up the fried rice I like.
When I travel up north to Wisconsin to fish, I hire Indian guides (Anishinabe) to catch walleyes and muskies.
If I want to eat a pizza, I pay Italians to bake a pizza.
I think this so-called Latino spending power is unmitigated BS.
I’d like to see the same chart showing government payments per capita by ethnicity. Probably would be a reverse image, eh?
The entire USA GDP is handouts to Latinos? Seems ... unlikely.
The MSM’s latest attempt at convincing themselves that they have nothing to fear from Trump. It’s like some scared kid in the dark repeating “I don’t believe in ghosts. I don’t believe in ghosts” over and over, hoping that if they say it enough times it will be true.
Yes, there are a number of factors.
Part of it is the incredible interest charged on balance these days.
I don’t carry a similar card to Macy’s these days, so I don’t know their rates. I’m paying anywhere from 17 to 29.5% on my other cards.
In the old days that would indicate a poor credit risk, missed payments or some such.
I have a good credit rating today. I haven’t had an intentional late payment in over a decade. Twice about three years apart, I was late a few days due to a clerical error.
I pay off my computer, and very rarely I accidentally erase an account from my list. I took measures to correct that problem and it hasn’t happened in about four years.
What I find really annoying, is when I run my balance up and I get a letter from a company upset that my balance is near the top. Good grief. If they don’t like my interest payments, they shouldn’t give anyone credit.
At any rate, I think companies like Macy’s are out of vogue. Even McDonald’s is having a hard time these days.
There are tens of millions of people out of work these days, and those working aren’t making what they used to. Another factor is that wages haven’t significantly increased since the early 1990s. Inflation didn’t stop.
Money is in short supply.
Our nation is in serious decline, and folks don’t really realize it.
This is why people have to do their own research, and not get the 5 second video clip spoon-fed to them from media outlet pushing their own agenda.
I saw Susan Estrich on Fox explaining what Trump said. I couldn’t believe it! Of course she had it all wrong but they let her spew her crap.
I don’t mean what they *SAY*; I mean knowing history in the sense of what works in taking over. Of course they lie about history, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t working from a playbook based on what worked in the past.
Especially the half of America who gets a significant part of their income from Uncle Sam. I've noticed the EBT Card crowd still manages to buy food that I can't afford and, in more cases than not, drive away in cars I can't afford either.
My wife and daughter spend about 2 grand a year at macy’s. The cards are getting cut up today.
Those days should be over. It’s time to seriously gut the welfare program as we have known it. It offered a hand up, but wound up being a perpetual hand out. It just stole money from hard working people to give to others.
When my former wife and I were dating, we made a fairly decent income between us. There was another couple who she happened to know, who were on government assistance.
They got a number of different types of help. They got housing assistance, food assistance, other forms of assistance, and cash from these programs.
One of them confided in her how much it was, and when she found out she was dumbfounded.
They were hauling in more from the government than we were being paid to work our asses off.
Sounds like you’re not the only one to do so.
As I’ve said a number of times, you don’t side with 13% of the population to curry favor with them by insulting the 65 to 70% of the nation in the process.
Not a good idea...
I agree.
