But then Jenny Horne decided that she had had enough.
The 42-year-old lawyer from Summerville stepped up to the podium and delivered words so raw and impassioned they would immediately go viral on the Internet.
Perhaps the most surprising and powerful part of Horne’s speech came when she invoked her lineage to Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederacy.
“I’m sorry. I have heard enough about heritage,” Horne said during the debate. “I have a heritage. I am a lifelong South Carolinian. I am a descendant of Jefferson Davis, okay? But that does not matter. It’s not about Jenny Horne. It’s about the people of South Carolina who have demanded that this symbol of hate come off the statehouse grounds.”

Only one of Jefferson Davis's children married and had children. That was Margaret Howell Davis (1855-1909) who married Joel Addison Hayes, Jr. (1850-1919) on January 1,1876 in Memphis, Tennessee. Her first child died as an infant. There were three more and then they moved to Colorado Springs in the late 1880s, where one more was born in 1889. Both them and all of the remaining children died in Colorado.

My great aunt was one of the last surviving Civil War widows in the state of Alabama......I’m sad for her....that being said, when I look at the flag, I don’t see racism, I see Redneck......I’m so sick of the to do about the flag.....it’s just something to take the attention away from the failures of the zer0 administration.....

I lived in SC when it was on top of the dome. This has been brewing for a long time, but the sharks smelled blood in the water and knew that this was their window of opportunity.
But know this and its of vital importance, there have been no failures of the Obama administration. Everything they do is done with a purpose. Even the apparent failures are well-planned successes. ObamaCare will usher in single payer. The lost wars will help the Caliphate. Their successes are legion. Gay marriage, the demonization of white people, the lowered labor participation rate, the darkened coal-fire power plants, etc. Don’t think for a second that he is incompetent. That is what they want us to think and far too many FReepers fall for it. He is cold, calculating ENEMY of the United States and is more dangerous to us than Hitler ever was. That woman was so obnoxious that I had to mute her each time she was shown, which was quite often (even the local news spotlighted her). I predict she will lose her next election, by a large percentage. She was miserable.

My mama is still living today, at the age of 95.
Her parents both died very young,

Mama still hates the party of Lincoln (republicans).
It is just the way she was raised.
In perspective, the 1860’s were not all that long ago.

Since when did it become a symbol of hate? Just because someone said it or some insane look displayed it? The flag was never about hate. These uneducated fools are just trying to make it a distraction from the real problem that they can’t deal with.

Because it was under threat of questioning and possible impeachment proceedings by its so called political opposition the regime needed to defer or stop any movement toward this. It was necessary to use a political device usually atrributed to Saul Alinsky but used by the nazi and commie’s like Stalin with the “Kulacks” through racial division.
Through the use of the “Bully Pulpit” it created persons engaged in felonious assults on authority who were black youths into; “Victims of an evil society” (thus approving their actions) out of whole cloth.
The regime began with the Zimmerman case which resulted in a series of assults by black youths on completely innocent whites,”hispanics”, and asians who were either targeted or wandered near or through black gang infested areas. The perpetators excuse; The reported “cold blood killing of Treyvon Martin because he was black”
It led to a score or more deaths and serious injuries which were treated as local news ignored and forgotten. And it was met with silence while this was happening. Neither the locqatious POTUS or his political opposition uttered as much as a “Now!,Now! or a “tsk!,tsk!”.
Those killings were referenced by the Charleston Church massacre perpetrator in his crazed manifesto.

Naturally when it was discovered that mention of those score of murders were used in this nut cases’s “manifesto” the reaction was....“Well we can’t let that out.
Oh ! His face book has him holding a Confederate battle flag,(Which to many is simply an ensign of protest and rebellion), that must be his excuse “The Confederates made him do this horrible act ! Let’s get them !”
Well they’re doing a good job of perverting what that battle flag’s represented at the same time ignoring the regime’s complicity in engendering those previous racial incidents.

His only descendants surnamed DAVIS would be the children of his grandson, Jefferson Addison HAYES, who had his surname legally changed to DAVIS. With only four grandchildren surviving to marry and have children, descendants of Jefferson DAVIS are a rare commodity.
Note that the four Jefferson DAVIS grandchildren lived well into the 20th Century. If you are alive today and your parents or grandparents are not among the above, then you cannot possibly be descended from Jefferson DAVIS.

One can imagine Patrick Henry getting up, and saying, "Screw it, let's just declare independence already, I mean c'mon."
Or Lincoln at Gettysburg: "Look, lots of people just died here. It's not the time for a big speech, but let's continue to fight, guys."
Or Roosevelt after Pearl Harbor: "After what happened yesterday, we're at war, nuff said."
