Channel 2 analyst Ehud Yaari says agreement will be signed early next week after US drops demand for snap inspections; Obama faces challenge of securing Congress approval
A deal has been reached between the world powers and Iran over the latters nuclear program after a series of major American concessions, Ehud Yaari, the Middle East affairs commentator for Israels Channel 2 television, said Friday night. It is done. It is done, he said, and will be signed early next week.
The aim of the agreement is to put a negotiated end to a 13-year standoff with Iran over its suspect nuclear program and to block its pathway to developing a nuclear bomb in exchange for lifting biting global sanctions. Israels leadership has relentlessly opposed the emerging agreement, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning that it will pave Irans path to a nuclear arsenal.
According to Yaari, Israels most respected Middle East analyst, the deal was reached because the Americans have made a series of capitulations over the past two to three weeks in almost every key aspect that was being debated.
Yaari said that even those in the US who had supported the agreement with Iran admit that it is worse than they thought. Now, he said, the ball is in the court of Democratic lawmakers who have to decide whether to support their president as he seeks to secure Congressional approval, or to join the vocal Republican opposition to an agreement.
One major concession, Yaari said, is the issue of inspections of Iranian nuclear sites, which has long been a sticking point in the negotiations. According to Yaari, the US negotiators have given in to an Iranian demand that inspections are managed in other words, there will be no surprise visits, only those that are pre-arranged and approved by the Iranian regime.
While there has been no official word that the deal is finalized, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday evening that progress had been made in the talks, and praised what he called the constructive atmosphere.
I think we have resolved some of the things that were outstanding and weve made some progress, he said, speaking to a few reporters as he met with his team of experts in Vienna.
Meetings have been happening all day, Kerry said, adding: We have a couple of different lines of discussion that are going on right now.
The atmosphere is very constructive, he told the reporters who travelled with him from Washington.
We still have a couple of very difficult issues, and well be sitting down to discuss those in the very near term this evening and into tomorrow.
The talks are now heading into their third weekend in Vienna. Kerry met Friday morning with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Zarif in an effort to close remaining gaps.
The terms of a 2013 interim accord under which Iran has suspended much of its uranium enrichment in return for some sanctions relief were extended to Monday in a bid to overcome a deadlock.
Frances Laurent Fabius and British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond are also due to return to the Austrian capital Saturday in the hopes of advancing the deal.

According to an Israeli source, Geoff Gotfield, a former member of a police counterterrorism team, the new unit created and trained in secret was also formed to deal with the threat of Irans nuclear weapons program, despite Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry enthusiastically trying to sell their attempt to achieve a nuclear agreement with Islamic Republic.
If we had an opposition party in Congress, I wouldn’t worry about this.
Unfortunately, we don’t.
If Iran launches one of their firecracker A-Bombs against Israel, they better hope the 12th Iman comes because Iran will become a highly radiated sheet of glass.
Here is how Obama will deal with this —
“so is it true that the inspections must be announced in advance and no surprise inspections?”
Obama — “no that is false — we have demanded inspections and there will be inspections”
“... but .. but no surprise inspections, is that correct?”
Obama — “There will be inspections ... you will be allowed to keep your inspections ... next question ...”
Here comes the Middle East nuclear arms race.

“Obama faces challenge of securing Congress approval”
Nope. There will be some wheeling and dealing of course, but the approval is in the bag. Zippy, Jarret, and Iran already know that
They shall both burn together and none shall quench them.
Clinton already gave them the plans with Operation Merlin in 2000. They have compact warhead plans. They have ballistic missiles. They've researched precision explosives to detonate the pit. Now, all they need is the weapons grade material.
watch McConnell,Cornyn and Hatch fold like quivering ganglia. This is a serious threat to the entire world and they wont care. Part of the deal was a bribe to Iran $ 89 billion if they sign. These guys will FUND IT!!! But as long as we sit and watch “American Idle” instead of getting in the streets and in their faces they will keep this country circling the drain. When the tv goes out every one will be mad.
Sites; anything that Israeli Intelligence has ferreted out that presents a current or future danger. There may be many, many cities in Iran that suffer significant to catastrophic damage.
Obama, John Kerry, and the msm will hail this as the crowing foreign affair achievement for the Obama administration. Non-stop, ad nauseam, until the election, this will be played over and over as all the democrats and rinos understand and will regurgitate the appropriate talking points.
Too late. Iran has tens of nuclear sites, hundreds of underground bases, and there is little visibility into their doings. A fission device can be assembled anywhere; first US bombs were even assembled in flight, after the airplane took off. It'd be a disaster to bomb an empty facility - a PR disaster and a political disaster, as that would give Iran the right to speak at the UN and accuse Israel of unprovoked attack - and the right to demand compensation.
I never had any doubt that it would be a done deal. Obama and his minions will stop at nothing to ensure Israel’s destruction. Obama knows he only has til Nov next year to get it done..so I wonder what the deal was, Iran can only kill off half the Israeli population and not the entire country..Israel knows they dont have a friend in Obama or his cronies, they will have to take care of things themselves they know it they have known it since Nov 2008
Yes,they do.But it must be established how deep the medieval psychopaths in Tehran dug and how effectively they fortified.Sadaam didn't expect it...the knuckledraggers will.
God help us all.
It’s far too late to take out the nuke program. Strategy is likely to strike weapons as they emerge from hiding to go operational. More reason to think nukes would be used by placing on a container ship or ordinary semi trailer.
I guess that's an adequate translation of what I would say... just mine would be full of F-Bombs.
Iran has a full and complete dossier on Barack Hussein Obama. His early life in Indonesia, radicalization in college, his early ties to Chicago communists, everything.
Same for John Kerry (who served in Vietnam).
