Donald Trumps outrageous comments about Mexican immigrants in his announcement speech two weeks ago should have been an occasion for conservatives to say that we have no room for bigots in our midst. Instead, a host of conservatives, from Ted Cruz to National Reviews own Rich Lowry, have defended his message, if not the crude way he expressed it:

And those long knives have all of a sudden gone dull.
Donald speaks the blunt unadulterated truth. I like the guy.
Hey Chavez. Have you ever stopped to consider that the Donald spoke the truth? Even though an inconvenient one? And there is plenty of evidence to support his non-politically correct statement, even if a little inartful. Kate Steinle was unavailable for comment.
Another point, or way to look at this. How might the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court 'word' it ...
ROTFLMAO!
The Establishment is a joke!
The Donald can be a jerk, thats for sure, but he is right in this case.
She can be safely ignored.
“Donald Trumps outrageous comments about Mexican immigrants”
Stopped reading when I realized that this retard doesn’t know what illegal means.
Maybe that's not the point. Maybe the point is to shore up support among the RINO plebian masses.
So long as YOU and rest of the GOP establishment wing support sanctuary cities and amnesty, we conservatives — at least for the time being — will back whomever has the loudest and clearest voice on this subject.
After the slaughter in sanctuary-city San Francisco of a young woman by a five-time illegal alien deportee, your words have no weight.
Piss off, Linda Chavez.
Saying that to MSM is announcing that "We conservatives are all hateful and incurable bigots." NR is announcing that for us. Whose side is NR on these days? Is it conservative or is it Republican?
Unadulterated truth often sounds harsh.
Any more of this outrageousness from Trump and I’m going to throw a party!
We should reverse it on them.
When these bums attack, we should say, “Why are you supporting illegal immigrants committing the child rapes, gang rapes and murders of Americans?”
Fixed.
The more the so-called “Conservative” media becomes vocal in opposition to Trump, the more I like him. Funny, that.
No truth-telling here, so STFU!!
The issue of illegals is really about allowing ISIS to vote in our elections. When you look at it that way you see the real issue. BUT the other thing to consider is that ISIS would vote Democrat every time.
No two people are completely alike; and every nation, tribe, community or family reflects the particular personalities in that nation, tribe, community or family. The idea of inhibiting debate on whom we allow to enter these United States, is to put the bathwater ahead of the baby. It is an indefensible attack on the American future.
I have no animosity against any of the earth's peoples; but it is a totally absurd hypothesis that they are all equally compatible with the heritage of America. Those who want to encourage mass immigration from incongruous or even possibly incongruous sources, simply do not respect that heritage; nor, if they have sworn to uphold the Constitution, even understand the Constitutional purpose with respect to an American posterity.
Politicians who pander to such intellectually corrupt theorists, deserve only the contempt of those who truly honor the American way.
This issue is a lot bigger than even Donald Trump is making it.

IMHO....There’s no such thing as an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. IF he or she’s an immigrant, they’re here legally.
The correct terminology for the people The Donald was criticizing is ILLEGAL ALIENS.
IMBW, but I think those who follow the rules and come here legally have the intention to assimilate and become Americans.
Aliens sneakily break into the Country with the intention of getting whatever they can, with no intention of EVER assimilating, and they will remain Mexican flag waving, welfare sucking, la raza rioting human debris for life.
Those are Ms. Chavez’s chosen people.
National Review, show a shred of credibility.
