Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush said Wednesday that in order to grow the economy people should work longer hours -- a comment that the Bush campaign argues was a reference to underemployed part-time workers but which Democrats are already using to attack him.
During an interview that was live-streamed on the app Periscope, Bush told New Hampshires The Union Leader that to grow the economy, people should work longer hours.
He was answering a question about his plans for tax reform and responded:
My aspiration for the country and I believe we can achieve it, is 4 percent growth as far as the eye can see. Which means we have to be a lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families. That's the only way we're going to get out of this rut that we're in.
Already the Democratic National Committee has pounced, releasing a statement that calls his remarks easily one of the most out-of-touch comments weve heard so far this cycle, adding that Bush would not fight for the middle class as president.

(good luck).
How do they gain more income for their families if they're not being paid for the extra hours?
He’s right. How are we going to support all our new ‘citizens’ who WON’T be working?
Dear Jeb:
I can’t work any harder, any longer, nor can I be taxed any more. My family is at our MAX.
You need to get that through your thick RINo skull or you need to learn how to phrase your thoughts more clearly.
Lol! Perfect opening for this thread.
I could take the silver spoon out of Jeb’s ass and then I would not have to work as hard.
One would think he would work the other side of the issue, reduce tax burden and regulations that would allow families to keep what they earn.......
...you can really tell Jebbie has no sense of what today is all about....I have a neighbor, he lost a good full time job, is working 2 jobs, his wife is working 2 jobs, her mom and his mom are trading off watching the kids and they are barely making it...
...Obama is the problem with jobs...companies downsized so they don’t have to pay for insurance all Obama’s fault...so Jebbie, wake up... just cause you got millions doesn’t mean everyone else does...
That’s right, someone has to support the RAT voters!
This proves that Jeb Bush (born with a silver spoon in his mouth) has no idea at all what the serfs in America have to do to improve the economy.
The only way to improve the economy is to get rid of government employees and the bureaucratic agencies they work for.
Hint for you Jeb............GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF PRIVATE BUSINESS! Free us to make things, do things, grow without restrictions, and most of all....MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS ON HOW TO RUN OUR OPERATIONS.
Bad business? Fails.
Good business? Succeeds.
In a “nutshell” it’s all about less government control and freedom.
“More working hours!” Why not simply put more government slaves in the field? Yeah, that’s the answer isn’t it?
Then I guess we should support Trump, Jeb, who actually hires people, runs businesses and is selling job creation as his strength?
I would be the best jobs President that God ever created. Lets get to work!
Poor Jeb, it’s going to be fun hearing Trump make fun of Jeb’s idiotic comments.
Moron!!! Blame Obama Kare and the lousy economy. People want more hours and cannot get them.
I D I O T A ! ! ! !
Jeb you are a CERTIFIED DUMBA@SS!...
This coming from a guy that had just about everything handed to him from Daddy. I would bet he has never worked a 40 hour a week.
Actually work productivity is good, but there are not enough jobs.
Who the h@ll is advising him? He says the worse things you could possibly say.
This is just proof what a joke Bush.
Rest assure this man will lose if the GOPe manage to get their way.
GOPe seems to love to throw elections.
Lets see for middle America wages have been stagnate for 15+ years, millions lost homes, pensions, retirements, savings, careers, cutbacks, layoffs, downsizing, benefits slashed or made worthless...
If these people have jobs they’re working harder for less as everything goes up except wages.
Jed Bush is an AH!
Like Limbaugh just said, did Bush bother to tell anyone why we’ve reached this point? Did he mention what caused this? Did Bush mention the slanted destructive trade policies which shipped hundreds of thousands of American jobs and entire industries over seas to Communist China etc?
Did Jed Bush mention while all this was going on, the government flooded the country with tens of millions of low wage illegal workers?
Jed Bush is an AH.
Jeb is tanned rested and ready.....too rested. He has been out of circulation for too long. He’s like the rusty ol clunker with weeds growing through it
