Good to know!
Idiots! The Stars & Bars is NOT the “Confederate” flag, but rather it is the Tennessee Battle flag.
I’m so conflicted over this issue. I’ve always seen the Confederate flag as belonging to the southern states, which became the KKK/ Democratic stronghold. As an Ohioan, I identified with the northern abolitionist Republicans who fought for the rights of blacks.
Now it seems the Dems are leading the charge to remove their own flag, and because they’re leading the charge, I want to be against them. I also suspect they are trying to erase their own racist past. However, I realize now the flag has become a historical symbol of quaint southern pride, and I like the kind of people who live in the south now-a-days, and I also like country music, the Dukes of Hazard, and yes, Chris Rock.
It’s kind of how I felt when the Republicans got stuck with the color red on the electoral maps, when we knew the Commies were supposed to be red.
I'm sure that the next person to get mugged or carjacked in downtown Charleston will feel so much better knowing that he/she was protected from attack by the Confederate flag.
Blacks overwhelmingly voted Republican (The Party of Lincoln, “The Great Emancipator”) from the time they got the vote in 1870 via the 15th Amendment up until the second election of Franklin Roosevelt in 1936.
President Eisenhower was able to get 39% of the black vote in 1956 and Nixon got 32% against Kennedy in 1960.
Mitt Romney got 6%, the lowest Republican result, ever.
I have the Bonnie Blue coming from ebay. Just wait till ebay finds out that it too is a confederate flag. I had some guy stop by up here in the UP of MI and demanded that I remove the confederate battle flag as it is racist. The DNR Conservationist Officer has been called to stop by my home because I am flying the racist flag that has been removed from atop the state Capitol of SC. I am just waiting for the other two confederate flags to show up. All hell will break lose just because these ignoramus’s have no understanding of Southern History.
I’ve been wondering all day where this hysteric ‘Horne’ creature has been, for the last several decades. Did she just discover this egregious situation and take up the ‘cause’ in the last couple of weeks?

The whole nation took up the cause in the last several weeks.
Not the ‘whole’ nation.
And any of the self-respecting Black people that I know, would see through this immediately and be embarrassed for her.
It’s on a par with “they’re gonna put y’all back in chains” and “Ah ain’t noways tard”.
Just politicians being the pandering creatures that they generally are. And if Horne thinks she’s going to get Black votes for that display, she’s delusional.
(But some of the more innocent ‘bandwagoneers’ don’t seem to realize that those who forget history are in danger of repeating it...)

I don’t know why she thinks that being a Republican descendant of Jefferson Davis endows her with special insight into the Confederate flag and what it symbolizes. Anyone who watches her speech can see she was faking the whole thing:
This whole matter of the confederate flag being such a hate symbol is in itself symbolic of where/what Obama and his enablers, even Republicans, want to take the US from the toil and suffering of the possible struggles envisioned by the Founders to make the US a great Nation. The sham and scam will come around to many people.
Great Pic. I wish they would stop whitewashing history. I guess now racism is over.
Politicians pander when they believe that it is to their political advantage to do so.
But sometimes, right or wrong they take principled stands. Its hard to know what is in someone’s heart.
I don’t presume to divine what is in anyone else’s heart. But when I see histrionics like that from a public figure - and apparently ‘out-of-the-blue’, though timely with regard to politics - I wonder ‘What’s up?’
Has this woman ever, in the past, objected to the display of the Battle Flag? If she has, I will stand corrected.
I thought it was a very undignified display, under any circumstances (and, speaking as a woman, I feel that her hysterics reflected poorly on my gender!)
I also don’t think that it convinced anyone of anything - except for other politicians who may have thought that THEY should ‘score some points’ too.

From a friend in the South. When the federal government and the talking heads want to ban my pasthere, permit me to exit momentarily the fraudulent objectivity of literatureI hate the sonsofbitches.
A lot of people quietly hate the sonsofbitches.
Neither the feds or the talking heads took that flag down - that was entirely the South Carolina state legislature and its elected Governor.
