The recovery from a July 4 anomaly that sent the New Horizons spacecraft into safe mode is proceeding according to plan, with the mission team preparing to return to normal science operations on time July 7.
Mission managers reported during a July 6 media teleconference that NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft resumed operations on its main computer overnight. The sequence of commands for the Pluto flyby have now been uplinked to the spacecraft, and full, as planned science observations of Pluto, its moons and the solar winds will resume at 12:34 p.m. EDT July 7.
The quick response to the weekend computer glitch assures that the mission remains on track to conduct the entire close flyby sequence as planned, including the July 14 flyby observations of Pluto.
“We’re delighted with the New Horizons response to the anomaly,” said Jim Green, NASA’s director of planetary science. “Now we’re eager to get back to the science and prepare for the payoff that’s yet to come.”

Thank you very much for expressing your kind words of appreciation regarding the Pluto pings. I also have another Pings list started about a month ago regarding Hillary sending out about 5, 6 articles a day, the point is to be there at the very moment she makes a fool of yourself or has to end her race for the presidency.
I want to be there at the moment it happens,to spread cheer and schandenfreude to as many FReepers as possible. That list will last a bit longer than the Pluto list and I have about 12 people on it who I send stuff to 5,6 times a day that also get posted at FR.
My point is that you have been the very first and only one to express appreciation for either lists. And that means a lot to me.
I don’t do it for the appreciation or the accolades. I do it out love for what I do, and most of all truly and honestly for my love of FREE REPUBLIC.
It’s also that I despise Democrats, left wingers, liberals and most of all Hillary (Obama as equally an anathema to me)

Thank goodness they launched this thing before Pluto was de-listed. We should see some amazing images soon.
I’ll be glad if they just manage to pull it off without any more stupid scares.
It might be feasible to launch a sprinting probe, reach Pluto in under two years, and have the engine restart to decelerate to enter grav capture. An orbiter around Pluto would be nice. :’)
