You know I think the world of you buddy but I just can't buy 11-20 million even on the illegal scene. Ann Coulter is at 30 million. I still think that we are between 35 and 40 million.
But, I will agree to disagree with you.

I agree with you on visa overstays. In 2005 they were two million(at least) there could be five times that now since there is little enforcement.

Exactly why you don’t want to fight this battle. No matter what you say you are for amnesty according to the purists. You made my point.

Fight the battles you can win rather than start ones you are guaranteed to lose.

It is political suicide if you will notice I am now pro amnesty like Bush and Rubio even though I obviously support Cruz.

Why would anyone want to debate this issue when you are going to be crucified by both sides no matter what you say.

The fact is that we really don't know the true numbers. The official USG estimate is way off, on that we agree. A Bear-Sterns report done almost ten years ago estimated that there were 20 million based on things like school reports.

It really makes no sense for any politician to support legalization when we have no idea of the actual number. And once legalization is a policy, we know that there will be a surge of illegals. It happened in 1986. The process was rife with fraud.

I watched Christie answer the illegal crossings just now on FNS. His answers are the same we hear over and over: fence where possible, use of more technology and the employer mandates, etc.

The one thing I have not heard from any of the candidates is to change the Rules of Engagement. With any methods of securing the border we need to un-cuff the border agents. If some illegals get killed, I’m sorry but they should have not tried to get here illegally. I’m not suggesting we target them but not handcuffing the border agents that keeps them from being able to do their jobs effectively.

Why allow fear to censor your views? Cruz is trying to have it both ways. He has in the past favored legalization of the lawbreakers with no path to citizenship. And he wants to increase the number of guest workers fourfold. He is avoiding the question as a matter of crass political expediency.

Cruz Tries to Claim the Middle Ground on Immigration

Amnesty is a guarantee that America will fall and lose.

Do you get it now?

Sheeesh....it's not rocket science.

Christie is a fraud. Fences or barriers are ways to save manpower and facilitate enforcement, The 13 miles of double fencing south of San Diego worked. The fences have not been scaled or tunneled under. The Israelis and Indians have used fencing to good effect.

I agree that we must allow the BP to do its job. Right now the illegals are surrendering to the BP who then bring them to centers so they can be released inside the US. They are aiding the lawbreakers, which they hate.

Unfortunately, that does seem to be the case and is certainly plausible. We have to clean House and Senate next election and hope we do not elect moles to replace what we take out.

I’m serious about Ted Cruz.....this guy has never said a single word with which I have disagreed.

Me too.

Cruz is a diamond wrapped in a diamond. A couple others are very good as well but he is the best. One of a kind in a generation, like Reagan.

I am so afraid that the next we hear from this is nuclear tipped ICBMs blowing up over our cities.

That would be bad. But maybe if it was only over the District of Corruption it might not be so bad...

From Father Tom’s homily last week:

“In 2011, the Dept. of Health & Human Services required coverage for contraception & abortion, leading the Little Sisters of the Poor to file suit against the US Government. (If they lose their case, they may be left with no choice but to close all their homes for the indigent elderly.) In 2012, Christians were threatened with loss of their businesses for refusing to take pictures, print invitations, or provide floral arrangements for same gender weddings. During remakrs before the Supreme Court, the Solicitor General made it clear that our tax exempt status will likely be challenged if atholic clergy refuse to perform same gender weddings.

In a visit to Ireland in 2013, the President called Catholic schools a source of division in the community. The same year, an instructor at a US Army base in Pa. included “Christians” among the groups who mut be watched because of terrorist tendencies.

We have a God-given right to freedom of religion, not just “freedom of worship,” as stated by some of our political leaders. Like Hitler, Staling, and other dictators, there ae those who want to silenceus in the public sphere. But the freedom for which many shed their blood and sacrificed their lives is given by God, not the government. IF we fail t be informed about what I going on, if we do not participate in the political process, then we fail our responsibility as Cathoics and as citizens. Let us stand up and be counted!”

Isn’t that great? Reprinted from this week’s “Pastor’s Pen.

I also winked at Father Tom and asked him what the hey is with this Pope Francis? He winked back and said “He’s a work in process. We’ll set him straight.”

Heh.

Electing conservatives/tea party types is as difficult as it has ever been. But, we will do it. The country's future depends on it.

Makes more sense to take on this battle one step at a time. Close the border and then work on the illegals. Put out the fire first and then start rebuilding the house.

Unless you send the message now that you will not reward the lawbreakers now or in the future, you will encourage more lawbreakers while the border is being secured. Again, 40% of the the illegal aliens came here legally and overstayed their visa. Closing the border will only partially stop the flow. You need to shut off the job magnet and to increase interior enforcement to track and deport visa overstays.

FYI: Heritage estimated it would cost $6.3 trillion if you legalized the USG estimate of 12 million. And once they are legalized, they can bring in millions of their relatives as part of chain migration, i.e., family reunification.

Securing the border is a simplistic solution to a complex problem. You need a comprehensive enforcement plan. Moreover, you must send the message now that the lawbreakers already here will not be rewarded with legalization. Every GOP candidate should be forced to read Jeff Sessions' article, Becoming the Party of Work-- How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself.

The bigger problem is legal immigration. Only two GOP candidates have talked about reducing the numbers--Santorum and Walker. We have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years and wages have been stagnant for decades. Does anyone think that importing 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year along with 640,000 guest workers annually might have something to do with it? Both parties have abandoned the American worker. Their corporate paymasters come first.

Thanks!
I found some Government site that laid out the legal number of green cards per year.
...We admit 1.1 million legal immigrants a year....

My point remains, when asked how to deal with 40 million illegals, note the dramatic increase starting 1991, and ask the Journ0list > What is the right number of immigrants to be admitted to the USA each year?

To put things in perspective, in 1970 one in 21 was foreign born; today it is one in 8, the highest in 90 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. The 1965 Immigration Act changed our demography forever. 87% of legal immigrants are minorities as defined by the USG. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities and by 2043 non-Hispanic whites will be less than 50% of the population compared to 89% in 1970. We are being colonized by the Third World. Demography is destiny.
