Personally, I do not care where folks come from, so long as they conform to the American values such as Liberty.
So long as the Country sheds jobs, I do not see the need for more people!. We need to attract immigrants to fill holes in our work force, NOT depress Salaries and workplace conditions. We have our own homegrown slugs to carry in the cart.
My point is : Liberals always go to the bleeding heart. You will “feel good” granting amnesty (Name any other freebe given to the gimmiedat’s) to these poor souls while someone else pays the cost.
The Adults have to say NO. What is the cost? How many immigrants do we need? If one million per year is good, why not 50 million per year? Get a level on what these bleeding hearts feel is too much. Then, flip the amnesty question back to them!
I do not know how you stop economic migrants. When Eastern Bloc Countries were under the Communist thumb, a lucky few got to travel to Canada. You could find newly minted Doctors and Lawyers, on “vacation” picking worms for cash. Theses lottery winners were able to go back to Poland, Romania, etc, and kickstart their life with new cars or better apartments.
When I travel to second world Countries the complaint is the same-those “xxxx” sneak into our Country and take our jobs.
Folks VISITING America can do what they like, BUT THEY MUST GO HOME AFTER A FEW WEEKS, A MONTH TOPS. They certainly cannot stay, draw freebies and vote.
I do. Immigrants and minorities vote more than two to one Democrat. Each year, we import hundreds of thousands of future Dem voters. We have entered the era of tribal politics. Why do you think the Dems want more immigrants? Immigrants use the welfare system to a much greater extent than the native born. They are natural Dems.
I know it is politically correct to say you welcome all legal immigrants no matter where they come from, but the fact is that they are transforming this country with their culture and Third World values. Why should 87% of all legal immigrants be minorities, entitled to all the benefits that entails, e.g., affirmative action and minority business set asides? Immigrants account for 80% of all population growth. America will be lost thru the ballot box.

My point is that the liberals see immigration as a way to transform America. It has nothing to do with bleeding hearts, but rather, political power.

You stop them by enforcing our laws and taking in fewer legal immigrants. You make it very difficult for the lawbreakers to work making E-verify mandatory and cracking down on employers. You leverage state and local law enforcement to identify and deport illegals.

So what do you do to stop it? You certainly don't reward the lawbreakers with the "right" to stay and work here. You don't make their children born in America US citizens thru birthright citizenship. You don't have a kinship system of immigration rather than a merit-based one. I have lived over 25 years overseas in nine different countries and visited over 70 countries. There is no country that allows its borders to be crossed with impunity by foreigners, no matter how poor. Mexico jails and then deports illegal aliens save those transiting the country to enter the US.
FYI: Most of our our tourist visas allow up to 90 days. We have over 900,000 here on student visas. Each year we have over 50 million visitors.
Bump for later reference.
So what do you do to stop it? Freedom seeking people come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Vile and venal Marxists come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
1) Enforce current immigration Law, including e-verify. We have plenty of Laws.
2) Seek out those immigrants who value Liberty. Who wants a bunch of gimmiedat Greeks, Brits, or Sweedes? No Body! Interview a prospective immigrant. Find those with skills in short supply in America. Uncover those who are tired of the yoke of Big Government. Then, let them demonstrate for seven years, without voting rights, they can thrive without the support of Government.
So why do we bring in almost all of our legal permanent immigrants from the Third World, 87% of whom are minorities? Whe defines what are freedom seeking people and those who want to come here to work and live in a first world country with all of the amenities it offers? There are literally billions of people who fit your description.
Let's get something straight. Immigration to America is a privilege, not a right. We are supposed to be the ones deciding who comes in and in what numbers. Our immigration policies should serve our national interests.
1) Enforce current immigration Law, including e-verify. We have plenty of Laws.
Yes, we should enforce our immigration laws, but we must also change our immigration laws that are detrimental to our national interests. The visa lottery program, birthright citizenship, chain migration outside of the nuclear family, immigration caps that are much too high, asylum laws, etc. We have the lowest labor particapation rates in 38 years, stagnant wages, and massive welfare use. Do we really need to be importing millions of foreign workers to compete with American citizens for jobs. If we had a shortage of labor, wages would be going up, not down.
2) Seek out those immigrants who value Liberty. Who wants a bunch of gimmiedat Greeks, Brits, or Sweedes? No Body! Interview a prospective immigrant.
Value our liberty is the criterion for admission? What does that mean and how does it manifest itself? Those Greeks, Brits, and Swedes have contributed enormously to this country in the past. Under the existing rules, we can no longer recruit those kinds of numbers from Europe. Instead, we bring in minorities from the Third World who go on welfare and vote Democrat. How many of them relate to our Founding Fathers and their values who are now being characterized as old white men who were bigots and racists? Do they view Western Civilization the same way we do or do they consider the West as former colonialists who ruled their countries and plundered their wealth?
Anyone familiar with history understands how divisive and destructive the introduction of different cultures, races, and ethnicities can be. When non-Hispanic whites become a minority in 2043, what will be the agenda of the new majority?
Interview a prospective immigrant. Find those with skills in short supply in America.
Why don't we train our own people to acquire those skills? We have 92 million Americans not in the work force? Specifically, what kind of skills are you discussing and in what numbers? We don't have a major shortage of skills in this country.
Uncover those who are tired of the yoke of Big Government. Then, let them demonstrate for seven years, without voting rights, they can thrive without the support of Government.
If you get a permanent immigrant visa (green card), it takes five years normally before you can apply for naturalization. Then you can vote. I don't know what the extra two years does. And there are over 10 million who prefer not to become citizens and remain as citizens of their own country.
How do you divine who are tired of the Yoke of Big Government?
Thanks
