Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian finalized a preliminary ruling today ordering Aaron and Melissa Klein, the bakers who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding, to pay $135,000 in emotional damages to the couple they denied service.
This case is not about a wedding cake or a marriage, Avakian wrote. It is about a businesss refusal to serve someone because of their sexual orientation. Under Oregon law, that is illegal.
In the ruling, Avakian placed an effective gag order on the Kleins, ordering them to cease and desist from speaking publicly about not wanting to bake cakes for same-sex weddings based on their Christian beliefs.

I see Texas doing more to stop illegal immigration than any other state. We are impacted more by it, but protecting our borders is a national problem and a responsibility of our nation.
The Oregon legal/political system is not becoming an obviously corrupt and biased court system. It already is and has been for years obviously corrupt.
The cost of not fighting it is the death of freedom. We have to fight this - whether in court, in the media (except that speaking about it is now illegal), at the polls, or . . .
Free Speech and Religious Freedom gone in one swoop-Way to go comrade judge Avakian.
I suggested that from afar Texas seems to show evidence of having:
1) a gravely deepening illegal immigration problem (around two million illegals now, some seven percent of the state's population);
2) a particularly vicious and litigious form of Leftism springing up in the cities; and
3) early symptoms of the same kind of electoral trends that transformed California, for example, from one of our great golden hopes to one of our worst and saddest disasters.
As for any of your problems being "the responsibility of our nation"---I wish you good luck with that one, pard.
We all have plenty of troubles of our own, as you were so quick to suggest earlier.
I believe that was my point. :-)
You really believe that illegal immigration is the responsibility of the border states and not the federal government?
What possible difference does it make what I believe?
Does Texas have an increasingly grave illegal immigration problem or not?
And what possible difference does it make whose responsibility it is, if no one (certainly not the feds!) is living up to that responsibility?
You started off today claiming that Texas was like “a whole other country’...
And now you are running to hide behind the corruption and deliberate malfeasance of Obamanation?
Again, that’s not going to cure you of anything.
Good night, Thackney. I meant what I said about so many of us looking to Texas for inspiration and leadership.
The US has an illegal immigration problem. Texas just gets to see most of them first. Sorry you don’t understand that.
Are you saying that to you “a whole other state” will soon mean North Mexico?
You puff out your chest, then point to Obama for cover.
As I said before, Good luck with that, ol’ hoss.
“Like” and “is” are words with different meaning, sorry you don’t understand that.
If you illegal immigration is not a problem for every state in our union, you are mistaken.
