NASCAR tracks make request for fans to not fly Confederate flag

A NASCAR spokesperson said the request would pertain to "overt displays" of the Confederate flag. If you're a fan wanting to bring in a 15-foot Confederate flag to fly on track property while at a race or are planning to use the symbol as a way to make a boisterous statement, you're likely going to be asked to not do so and possibly escorted out of the track premises.

Yep, I think you're right. I think a LOT of "fed up" people might just take up the confederate flag in defiance of the rising tide of gov't oppression. History repeating itself quite literally. I would LOVE this to be the outcome of the leftists attack on the Confederate flag.

I am not even a stock car fan but I hope the infield and stands are ablaze in Confederate flags just to see how far and how stupid NASCAR has gotten and will go to stop this foolishness. As with many companies that jump on the political correct bandwagon too quickly before thinking of the unintended consequences, NASCAR may have to walk back their ban of the Confederate flags at the races.

I live in the south and I don't know any good 'ole boys who will do what the arrogant, elitist, liberal Left tells them to do. If NASCAR wants no Confederate flags at Daytona on Sunday, my money is on the fans who will flip them the big fickle finger of fate and brings the flags just to rub into their woosie faces.

NASCAR fans, being who they are, will almost certainly look upon this as a challenge...

That is how I see it too, at least I HOPE that's how it plays out. Also, they are ASKING fans not to fly the flag. I think that means you don't really have to SNEAK the flag in. I doubt if Leroy at the gate is going to raise the alarm if he sees one.

Me too. I get plenty of racing with SCCA, it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg, and it costs you nothing if you work a corner! Besides, with NASCAR’s rules the cars are really all clones of one another. The engines, for the most part no longer come out of a “stock car” (find me a rear drive Toyota with a pushrod V8), and about the only part of the bodies that are “stock” are the windshields. And where are all those two-door Ford Taurus’ anyway!

I think those of you who are saying "boycott NASCAR" are really missing the point....now's the time for EVERYONE who goes to see a NASCAR race to fly as many 15 foot flags (and other sizes) as possible! Tell NASCAR to "shove it" and at the same time piss off the race baiter in the White House.

How can so many miss this opportunity to strike back at those who are trying to eliminate the confederate flag and label everyone who flies it a racist?
