Episcopalians voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to allow religious weddings for same-sex couples, solidifying the church's embrace of gay rights that began more than a decade ago with the pioneering election of the first openly gay bishop.

One man, one woman.
Do you claim that Jesus approved or approves sodomy in any way, shape or form? Do you think Jesus approves two men committing themselves to bugger each other, and calling it "marriage"?
Out with it, Chatty! Quit playing coy.
Nonsense. Jesus was and is GOD! His knowledge and 'imagination' are infinite.
“”””This isn’t about homosexuals. It’s about the children who are raised by them and denied access to half of their natural families. “”””
Well put. The idea that a homosexual couple claims a child as a son or daughter is utterly ridiculous. The child has to be stolen from one parent and given to a pair of aberrations of nature in order to satisfy the parental desires of at least one of the pair. It’s abhorrent to me that homosexuals are allowed to do this.
No, they wouldn't. It's crystal clear from all kinds of sources that two men or two women can't validly administer the sacrament of matrimony any more than someone can validly baptize a hamster. There's no doubt or ambiguity about it.
Some facts from Virtueonline.org: the average Sunday attendance is now below 700,000 for the entire country. On any given Sunday this Fall, there will be more people sitting in ten NFL stadiums than in the entire 6600 churches of TEC. 69% of churches have Sunday attendance of less than 100 people. And they are aging fast. The average parishioner is 61 years old. There are basically no children coming up to replace the die-off of the baby boomer. 45% of churches do not have a full time pastor, and the average age of the pastors they have left is 58.
The people leaving since Vicky Robinson was declared a bishop has been a flood, and it may only increase now that the church has voted to consecrate sodomy in its sanctuaries.
“”Lots of things were never going to happen, until they actually did...you have absolutely no idea what the future will bring... “”””
Especially with the pope the church has now.
According to eye witnesses, the General Convention now going on in SLC is lousy with fat lesbian priestesses strutting about, immensely pleased with themselves.
You truly are ignorant of the Scriptures. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God. Now, who is the Word? Jesus, of course, He was in the beginning when He created male and female. Good heavens - pray about what you read and do some research. What do you mean He couldn’t imagine such a thing happening? Don’t you know He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their homosexuality? Do you think there isn’t anything going on that God doesn’t know about? Wow - just Wow!
At first read I saw ...
... for same-sex couples, SODOMIZING the church’s embrace of gay rights ...
Because in today’s United States, operating fully by God’s Word is very likely to get you sued for discrimination. Discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation or perceptions thereof. Nowadays, a fundamentalist christian could lose their job if they were accused of ‘confronting’ someone with those beliefs, even after someone came to you and asked your opinion. It’s not fair, and it’s not logical, but this is happening, on every level of employment. In today’s American, you will find very few resources ready to openly defend your right to express certain unpopular opinions.
Even the doling out of punishment under the law is now subject to ‘aspects of a minority being overly represented. Logic does not seem to have as much pull or influence as it did even ten years ago. Actions and deeds are less judged than are motivations. Now, most societal changes and adjustments seem to be based on ‘feelings’ and presumptions of attitudes.
Good. now the gays don’t have to bother the Baptists and Catholics.
Well. That’s one view. And I respect it. But I don’t agree with it.
Sure I do, the Catholics have held that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman for 2,015 years and aren't about to change their view because the supreme court did....
It isn’t MY view - it’s the Word of God. So, what you are saying is that you disagree with God? Well, take it up with Him, and see who is right and who is wrong. (I guarantee you - you are on the losing end of this battle).
Until the Lambeth Conference around 1930, every Protestant denomination opposed artificial birth control.
Now none do.
Only the Catholic Church opposes artificial birth control.
Now the unthinkable is happening. The same thing is happening with marriage.
Nope, ain’t gonna happen. There’s a difference between the liturgical silliness that has been perpetrated in the name of VII, and a core belief of the Church.
Your opinion is your opinion. But no point in getting into it. Let’s have Jesus decide. Bless you.
As Gomer Pyle would say, “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!”
I am a deep Bible reader But also a questioner. No where is it reported that Jesus had an opinion on gay marriage. He probably could not even imagine such a thing happening. But it is not certain that he would have condemned the relationship between two of his disciples. Jesus condemned very few. That was not his way. And he never condemned those who loved and served and believed.
WOW! I have no doubt that you are a TROLL!
Do You Like Kittens?
The story makes it sound like it’s the entire Episcopalian Church. False. It famously split several years ago; the apostates are the smaller slice with the gay bishop (now divorced from his boyfriend). They’ve been doing gay marriages in church for a few years. The Biblicals are thriving.
It’s Yahoo news. Leaving out inconvenient facts is what they do.
All. The. Time.
