It’s the same in the U.S. They lose money if they marry. And Britain is ahead of the U.S. in terms of the no-marriage culture. If these people are in their late 20s to 30-ish, odds are their parents weren’t married, and it’s never occurred to them that they should be, except as a fun social event.

I continue to be amazed at how quickly shacking up has come to be accepted even among people who consider themselves conservative. Very sad.
