They have two children and plan to get married in 2017. Why not celebrate their lucky escape by moving the wedding date to 2015?
I agree. Our culture is in the tank when the desire for a fancy wedding, a big, party, a house full of furniture, a couple of cars, a vacation, etc. takes precedence over the safety and security of your children.

Why rush things? If they wait a few more years, their daughter will be old enough to be her mom’s maid of honor.
