I kept hearing that he wouldnt do it and that hes all bluster, but it looks like Donald Trump has actually filed a lawsuit against Univision for breaking their contract to broadcast the Miss USA pageant after his comments about illegal aliens from Mexico.

Window? I guess that works!
Idiotic. There is no First Amendment issue here and it has nothing to do with this case.
I saw something somewhere that said Trump had donated to the Clinton Foundation. This information shows a reason this may have happened in happier days between Univision and Trump.
The complaint also has the standard “breach of contract” claims. This will be a good show. If he donated to Clinton in the past, her lawyers will bring that up, but I doubt she becomes a party in any way.
Get an answer yet?
500 mill???
Goody, that's 500 big ones that won't go to Hillary's campaign.
Leni
This is about politics. He is running for president and that is the answer.
If it were any of the other republican potus candidate in a business dispute they’d roll over on their backs and spread their legs in submission.
Except for Jeb, he’d fellatio the Univision owner on live TV.
LOL!
The complaint isn’t based on the first amendment. It’s breach of contract and tortious interference (allegation is Univision persuaded NBC to drop the pageant), and defamation. Many of the allegations, like retaliation for speech and the Clinton connection, aren’t necessary to complete the claim.
Partly politics, moreso, I think, on Univision and NBC’s part. As for Trump, he had a deal, he figured to make money on the deal, and the other guy welched.
Now THERE's an image I can live without!
Well, that's AN answer, but not to the question that was asked.
Colonel Flagg asked it, btw.
The man is ballsy, I'll give him that.
Nothing. But....
No matter what one thinks if Donald Trump, in this case he is saying what most of us have said about Mexico. No one listens to us. But they do hear what The Donald says. He is too rich, too powerful, too egocentric to ignore. He has been playing this game a long, long time.
I love the way he called out Neil Young. :).
I can’t say he would have my vote, but the debates should be good!! He is. Northeastern Republican which means too liberal on some issues for a conservative. But as long as he keeps talking, I hope he keeps his skin in the game!
Hope his presidential run doesn’t interfere with his legal responsibilities.
This is about Trump's business arrangements. Other candidates subordinate their personal business interests when they run for President.
Even Hillary Clinton resigned from the Clinton Foundation board when she announced her campaign.
So far, all I've seen from Trump is personal attacks on private citizens, a lawsuit filed to preserve a personal business interest, and populist comments that have already been said by much more conservative candidates.
..Using suppression of First Amendment rights...
The First Amendment has nothing to do with this at all. It actually applies ONLY to government action against free speech.
This lawsuit is on the merits of the contract between Trump and Univision, breach of the terms of the contract agreement,
and resulting damages that Trump had, if any.
Any lawsuit against NBC will be similarly based.
Nothing. Why? Who cares? Not the point.
See my 37, please. There is definitely a point. Either Trump is campaigning to run the free world or he's being a businessman. With this much at stake, he shouldn't try to do both.
