The liberal-left are always pulling these polling results out of their behinds which show the vast majority of the people are on their side of every issue (gun control, gay marriage, etc). They manipulate these polls and studies to reflect the outcomes they want (easy to do) and then cite them in an effort to sway public opinion. Yet when these issues get put up for a vote in a voters referendum, more often than not its a whole different story.

Recall not too long ago gay marriage approval referendums was on the ballot separately across the country, in 32 states over a period of several years. Gay marriage was rejected in all 32 states, some of them were liberal states.

The few (flaming liberal) states that approved of gay marriage by voter referendum, it passed just barely by a mere handful of percentage points. Maine: 53-47 percent. Maryland 52-47. Washington 53-46, etc. One would think that in states such as those, gay marriage would have been approved by much higher margins such as 70-30 or 80-20.

So much for their vaunted opinion polls and studies showing a majority approval for gay marriage among the people.

The majority of the popular votes took place in the middle of the last decade. Many assumed that they would never be changing. They did. You can see it in the votes CA took on the issue. First was prop. 22 in 2000. It passed by 61%. Then came prop. 22 in 2008, which barely passed at 52%. CA swung 9% in 8 years amongst voters. Then in 2012 NC passed its amendment by 61%, landing exactly where CA was in the year 2000. Nobody would have predicted that in the year 2000.

I mean, does anyone think that there is a single state that would now pass its marriage amendment by more than it actually did the first time? I know I don’t think there is.
