Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the West, including the United States, for eschewing Christian values and opting instead for a “path to degradation.”
In his State of the Nation speech last month, Putin asserted that, “Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values… Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan.” Russia has adopted new laws that ban homosexual propaganda and criminalizes the insulting of religious sensibilities.
The law on religious sensibilities was approved in the wake of a protest in Moscow’s largest cathedral by a female punk rock group, Pussy Riot. State-run television said the group’s “demonic” protest was funded by “some Americans.” Russia’s newfound embrace of traditional values has prompted a rise in Orthodox vigilantism. Extreme groups such as the Union of Orthodox Banner Bearers, an ultraconservative faction who adopted a slogan “Orthodoxy or Death,” are gaining prominence.
It was not that long ago that the United States was accusing Russia for being a “godless nation.” On March 8, 1983, Ronald Reagan said this about Russia to an audience of evangelicals:

Look at Greece they are STILL demanding their goodies, I DO NOT think I will see turn around in my lifetime which will be another 30 years or so!!!!! It has taken these bastards 40 years to get us here it will take another 40 years to turn it around!!!! You have to realize it will take that long for ALL of these bastard tenured professors to die off!!!! The faster way would be for the citizens to keep their kids out of our universities but that happening is next to nil!!!!! The government has convinced most that you MUST have a college education to be successful, however maybe just maybe people will start to realize that VERY EXPENSIVE college education is getting them no where!!!!!
The US government, which is functionally "the US" to foreign observers, asserts that homo marriage is a fundamental human right, right up there with the right to speak your mind.
And if THAT position is contrary to what the US population finds, then all the more, the US is godless - or has substituted government for god.
I take no personal offense at Putin's remark. It's not directed at me, it's directed at the federal government, which is proudly godless.

During the Great Depression, Soviet Russia made great inroad using propaganda like this to siphon off nationalist pride in America. They did the same in every country.
This had a very negative effect in Germany. Many Germans became communists and sang soviet tunes while marching in the streets in thousands. This caused a nationalist outrage among many Germans, and a guy named Hilter exploited this masterfully. Not to be outdone by the communists, the Nazis just added "nationalism" to their same utopian view of social engineering.
Its a shame that so many people don't know the history of the Soviet union and how they exploit citizens of other countries. He is succeeding here on FR, much to my dismay.
The majority of America is not Godless, only the majority of the supreme court is.
The problem is that our government is no longer run by the people, it is run by a cartel of elites all acting in their own self interests and in the interest of socialism for the purpose of grabbing more power.
We have the ability to make change here. Ordinary Russians are total slaves to a lifetime despot.
