Its difficult to see how the nationwide legalization of gay marriage could have any kind of significant negative repercussions for anybody whos not gay. Difficult but not impossible. Because now that the US government formally recognizes marriage equality as a fundamental right, it really shouldnt skew the tax code so as to give millions of dollars in tax breaks to groups which remain steadfastly bigoted on the subject.
Im talking, of course, about churches.

Pay the tax and speak freely.
Churches can start by only marrying members. Non-members are not allowed.
Isn’t the power to tax the power to destroy?
No doubt.
Paying taxes will not buy free speech
But the homos will get what they want anyway. As horrific as this is to say, the author represents the standard position of the Gaystapo in power.
Just imagine churches that have existed for hundreds of years being shut down because they obviously cannot pay their annual property taxes.
I can already know how the liberals and GOPe will think. “Just think how much more property tax revenue we can bring in if close up these non-paying churches and bring in a shopping center!”
I think the day will come when this sort will be dragged out into the street and shot. They certainly are not worth the trouble to argue with.
I think churches should start legally restructuring, so that some parts are totally charitable and free from taxes, while other parts aren’t restricted, so that they can be politically active. It’s the only way to battle the beast of the federal government and gay Nazis.
The exemption was the payoff for keeping their mouths shut about politics.
Doesn't anyone realize that Christians need to push back with the same force that Muslims use?
I'm grateful that you get it. No, we will still not be free to speak against homosexuality, even paying taxes.
Conservatives think that being relieved of tax exemption grants freedom, when, in fact, it grants government even MORE oversight and access to scrutinize the sources of income. Individuals who pay taxes on the ridiculously complicated, intrusive 1040 every year already know this. It will be magnified 10x for churches.
Personally, I’d be all for getting rid of ALL tax exemption for EVERY tax exempt organization. Tax exemption is rotten to the core at this point.
The author has probably never set foot in a church. He has no idea they depend on donations to keep opearting. He probably thinks they ALL get government subsidies like the great harlot church (which gets billions a year to help out illegal immigrants btw). He is simply parroting what other intolerant bigot fascist homonazis are saying for attention on a blog. You know how the homofascists drama queens so crave attention. This grandstanding didn’t have the effect he wanted it to have and he even got slapped down by his own kind. Poetic justice.
Just wondering if all sermons discussing passages in the Bible about homosexuality will be banned too?
If a pastor is forced to marry a gay couple, then it should be the pastors right to give a sermon to the couple stating that their lifestyle is a sin. That would ruin the mood and I am sure that the “lovely couple” wouldn’t be happy. However, it is not their church.
So Felix... you think Nature is bigoted too you pee brain idiot?!!
Thank you for showing us your true colors.
I don’t do FB, but I have a feeling they’re only railing against him, because it’s too soon to let all their plans out. Not that anyone with half a brain-cell doesn’t know what’s coming, but they’re just mad he’s letting the cat out of the bag.
Does your “church” believe in the global warming hoax? Then they should be taxed.
There is the other side of tax exempt status issue — what happens when a huge religious organization like the Catholic Church starts paying taxes. Doesn’t that give them the right to use their power to influence the government in their favor politically? Just like any other tax paying businesses? They can start getting involved in and influencing the elections.
And if true, how does that affect the separation of church and state issue.
I think a first step for churches would to cut out the charity outreach to all those people with a rainbow flag facebook avatar. Let them get their free goodies from all the generous homosexual charities.
