“Why ???”
He’ll sweep the already red states. This position will keep him from picking up a single swing state.
Except I don’t think he’ll get out of the primary so it probably won’t matter.
I think being vocally against gay marriage is going to have about the same result that being an anti-war candidate was in 2004.
and I think being more than just “vocal” against same sex marriage is going to help Sen Ted Cruz get the nomination..
I don’t want a roll over play dead suck up for POTUS..
I want a man...a statesman...a leader..
You can vote for Lindsey Graham if you want to ..
This position will keep him from picking up a single swing state.

You don’t know how they people in those so called “swing states” feel about SSM..
While they may elect liberals for Gov and may be pro-abortion, they may be sickened by the thought that homosexuality is now considered equal to their own legal relationship with their opposite sex spouse..
there are still a lot of semi-decent folk in those states..
Just because they think abortion is OK because though its not for them its OK if other women kill their babies..
I think you’ll find they draw the line at sanctioning the unrighteousness of sodomy..
why don’t you ask them ???
It would be good for the country if the people were educated about judicial review and the idea of judicial supremacy. Even though Cruz didn’t go there, it would be good if the people knew how Jefferson and Saint Lincoln rejected the idea of the Supreme Court as the final arbiter of all constitutional questions. It would be good if the people knew that it was the Sup Court that declared its rulings as final (how convenient) and that they didn’t do that until over 100 years after the nation’s founding.
Having said all of that, I am a pessimist and don’t think it would amount to anything. The idea of judicial supremacy (and finality when the decision is a liberal one) is so firmly entrenched that I doubt it can be undone. Plus Cruz is almost certainly correct in saying that the GOP establishment secretly supports these terrible decisions and is glad to be able to say the matter is now settled we must move on (to the next crushing defeat).
To this generation, gay marriage is their civil rights victory, comparable in their view to integration or women’s suffrage. Candidates will need to pick battles they can win and turn into votes in the ballot box, else they’re just kidding themselves.
