If you attended church, synagouge, temple, mosque etc. did your pastor say anything about recent USSC rulings?
In the prayers yesterday, I included this petition, suggested by our synod:
Holy Father, as Your people we turn to You, our only refuge in every need. You see how confused our leaders and our people are at this time in regards to Your holy will that marriage be honored as the life-long union of one man and one woman. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy! Show us the path forward that we may be faithful to You even as we are uncompromising in our witness to Your will and ways. Help us to proclaim in Christ the gift of forgiveness for every sin and the promise of strength to live a new life by the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for everything we've done to undermine the sanctity of marriage in our society and through this difficult time bring us as a nation to repentance. We have no right to ask this, save through the merits and meditation of Him whose blood atones for the sin of the whole world, even Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
As a bulletin insert, I included this excellent pastoral letter from our synod president:
Synod president responds to SCOTUS same-sex marriage ruling
And in my remarks to the congregation after the service, I said something like what I posted on my FB page on Friday:
Today five "justices" (sic) of the Supreme Court, contrary to nature, reason, and moral law, and in violation of the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution they are sworn to uphold, trampled on the rights of states to have laws against homosexual "marriage" (sick). . . .
Of course, I and millions of other Americans will never recognize the legitimacy of their evil and unconstitutional ruling. And as an ordained minister, I will never conduct a homosexual wedding, regardless of the consequences. "We must obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29). . . .
This coming Sunday, I plan to bring the matter up in my sermon, as the appointed readings for the day (Ezekiel 2:1-5, 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, and Mark 6:1-13) would lend themselves to preaching about the church's prophetic voice and the resulting persecution.
I like your pastor.
Um, don't get your hopes up at that congregation. Sorry.
God bless those brave pastors!!
Hubby and I are “gypsies” right now, in search of a new church because we are tired of “pastor on a screen.” But first church we visited yesterday, that pastor avoided the subject and instead told really dumb jokes. We wanted encouragement, not cheap entertainment, so we left.
We then watched “pastor on a screen” at home, streaming him. He was on fire, all right...he preached AGAINST BELIEVERS for speaking out on the ruling. Gave this hapless “YOU are the problem, because you don’t have love.” His face was actually contorted with rage and hatred. Never saw him before, but we at least had confirmation that The Lord did, in fact, call us out of that church.
We then finally screened our former pastor, who is now at a different church, and who was filled with the Spirit as he spoke with love and encouragement, reminding us that we seek a heavenly country.
Pray for all those brave men of God who still speak the truth.
Marriage is also religious and therefore why can’t he mention it then? Unless he cares nothing about marriage.
"This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?"
That is an easy and pleasant assignment!
WILL DO!
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. --Romans 1:26-27 (ESV)

My Pastor made one very interesting point. He was preaching on Genesis, and the creation of Man and Woman, as well as on Jesus’ response to the Pharisees concerning their questions on divorce, all against the backdrop of Jesus’ “Judge not, lest ye be judged” statement.
One of his points was that marriage was around before the Law, because God introduces it in Chapter 2 of Genesis, and the Law only comes into play after the Fall, in Chapter 3.
In short, marriage has existed prior to and is therefore not subject to the Law, regardless of what Man may say.
Nope. Passing nod to the Pope’s encyclical then dwelt on the message of that day’s Gospel. He is retiring at the end of next month.
Unfortunately, of the many Christian churches who addressed this issue with Biblical truth, I'm pretty certain this action was repeated in many services around the country.
The issues here are spiritual issues and spiritual warfare issues, not politics. These issues with the SCOTUS ruling have very much to do with family and child-rearing and child education, whic are BIBLE issues.
It is always correct to praise the Lord Jesus Christ (make sure the "Jesus" you are praising isn't "another Jesus"--2 Corinthians ch. 11), AND there is a whole lot more than that to a Scriptural ministry and church.
We attended a PCA church so it was not complimentary of the ruling though not pushy.
I left my church when they refused to stand up and speak about marriage a few years ago.
if they are too cowardly to mention marriage then they don’t get me in their building
Glad we agree. I would take your points one step further, though. We should, like Jesus, love them enough to encourage (repentance) as well as admonishing and reproving. (although you may consider admonishing the same as encouraging in this sense.)
I am UMC and our ordained Music Minister is just ecstatic about the ruling. Ironic considering her pastor husband abandoned her and the kids so he could live the gay lifestyle.
We are visiting churches.
I love rolling thunder. I appreciate what you guys do.
I hope one day ya’ll will be able to extend it a few days. I would just like to see the prez, congress, and the supreme court slowed down by the gridlock.
The Church, the Body of Christ, is not dependent on “pastors”, “fathers”, “rabbis”, or “popes”.
We remain together, often as a remnant, because we are one in Christ. Meaning the Lord Jesus Christ and non-other.
The Word of God and the Holy Spirit instruct and guide believers and lovers in Christ in the Way we should go. We follow Him alone.
Dependence on “pastors” and other hired leaders from the congregation has brought many in the Church of Lord Jesus Christ to laziness of belief, laxity of fervent prayer, and blame shifting away from the assigned personal responsibilities of each believer.
My pastor was ON FIRE Sunday. His sermon was about good vs evil - In addition to a scathing rebuke of the Supreme Court decision, he told the congregation he had warned them about voting for candidates who believe in abortion and told them they needed to repent for their votes.
He also said it was not only a time to pray, but ACT and that the elections were no longer about being a Democrat or Republican. Christians needed to vote their faith.
The sermon was broadcast on the radio.
