Conservative churches confront new reality on gay marriage
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | June 28, 2015 | Rachel Zoll

At First Baptist Dallas, where the pulpit was adorned Sunday with red, white and blue bunting to honor the Fourth of July, the pastor called the Supreme Court's gay marriage ruling "an affront in the face of Almighty God."

The iconic rainbow colors that bathed the White House Friday night after the court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide represent "depravity, degradation and what the Bible calls sexual perversion," the Rev. Robert Jeffress said.

"But we are not discouraged," Jeffress said. "We are not going to be silenced. This is a great opportunity for our church to share the truth and love of Jesus Christ and we are going to do it."

On the first Sunday after the high court ruling, theological conservatives grappled with their new status as what the Southern Baptists call "a moral minority" on marriage. Ministers were defiant about publicly upholding their views, and warned church members to prepare themselves for a rough time ahead.

"Welcome to the new world. It's just changed for you Christians. You are going to be persecuted," Alabama's Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore said from the pulpit at the Kimberly Church of God, in Kimberly, Ala.

Moore, who fought a losing battle to keep a Ten Commandments monument he erected inside Alabama's state judicial building, said the decision went against the laws of nature.

"Is there such a thing as morality anymore? Sodomy for centuries was declared to be against the laws of nature and nature's God. And now if you say that in public, and I guess I am, am I violating somebody's civil rights? Have we elevated morality to immorality? Do we call good, bad? What are we Christians to do?"..........

....Sixty-two percent of white evangelical Protestants and 54 percent of non-white Protestants oppose same-sex marriage, according to the Public Religion Research Institute.".....

The court like the rest of gov’t has lost any legitimacy. ‘

We will not consent, we will not comply. Civil disobedience to such tyranny will be more than the domestic enemies can handle. Their edicts must be enforced and send armed men to put their will upon us. Bring it. These fools going after religious beliefs? What is this, amateur hour? How many times in history has this caused wars and backfired?

Churches attacked and innocents killed means just war clause has just passed and it’s open season. Or, hunting season rather. The tyrants themselves will face personal consequences. Thus starts the reset.

Churches will marry people and place it in the books. The gov’t, state requirements will be ignored as they should have been back in the 1860’s. Get gov’t out of marriage business, we don’t need their blessing.

The useful quisling homosexual deviants had the best thing in their closets, now they get a false construct “gay marriage” and face extortion and gov’t meddling as they worship the state. Fools. In the meantime, the domestic enemies will use this as vehicle to go after houses of worship, bye bye tax exempt status.

Christians promoting the false “peace at all costs” jibberish are in for rude awakening. “I just want to be left alone.” Sure, we all do. Nobody wants a war, but guess what, war is sure interested in you, the sodomites and their heathen masters are very interested in you mofos!

The state can't stop them from getting married, and there are government offices to marry them. This should not force a church to perform a ceremony of Holy Matrimony against their will.

I say "should not" but they are going to try.

The black churches will roll over just like they did on everything else. The Pastors stay in power by keeping their congregations hooked on entertainment and prosperity preaching.

I foresee not one iota of change from the black Christian establishment.

The decision established that the Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State.

At this point, there is no decision that any church must perform a gay marriage. There is no decision addressing the First Amendment right of religious conscience, or the prohibition against government establishing religious dogma. That will likely be taken up in a future case.

It does appear, though, that the right of marriage between any two adults is a recognized civil right. I would imagine that churches that violate someone’s civil rights would not be eligible for government grants or tax exemptions.

Quite frankly, there should not be any thought of any change in policy in a Christian church.

We had this meeting in our church a few months ago as we’ve seen this coming for a while. Our Baptist church used to allow just about anybody that asked whose Christian (within reason) to use our church to get married. We changed the policy to state uniformly that you must not only be a member, but a regular attending member for at least 6 months.

This means being baptized in our church, signing that you agree with our constitution (which supports traditional marriage only), etc. Not even family members or friends of members that we “know very well” will be able to get married in our church anymore, only those that meet our strict criteria.

We figure that since we are in the days when “they will not endure sound doctrine”(II Timothy 4:3), it is unlikely the gaystapo will go to the trouble of joining our church and fellowshipping with us for 6 months — they will move on to easier targets.

All other Bible-believing churches ought to be having this meeting as well, otherwise sooner or later they will be targeted.

I don’t accept the premise that there is a new reality on “homo marriage”

The only reality is that this Country has fallen further into the abyss of the darkside.

So you think there will be any? Really? They’ve kind of painted themselves into the “victims” corner with a bunch of perverts, don’t you think? It’ll be kind of hard for the professional equality whiners to suddenly become “haters” of another “downtrodden” minority.

“There are those who believe that a new modernity demands a new morality. What they fail to consider is the harsh reality that there is no new morality. This is the beginning of the next phase.

Gay couples will demand weddings at churches that oppose this and will sue the snot out of them with the Govts blessing and assistance. The objective is to bankrupt christianity in the USA.

When will that drive a call for maintaining separation of church and state? Hint NEVER
