Nearly 60 years have passed since that wintry night in Iowa when three of rock and roll’s biggest stars perished in the crash of a small plane, moving songwriter Don McLean to pen words that haunt listeners even now: “The day the music died.”
Perhaps there’s a patriotic lyricist somewhere out there already pouring his or her heart into expressing a similar feeling of forlornness because something surely died yesterday, something of inherent significance in the turbulent history of this country that continues to insist it’s “one nation under God.”
How can we make that claim while casting aside beliefs and understandings that have informed this nation’s character from the days of our founding?
What’s God got to do with?
At one time He had a lot to do with the daily affairs of America.
But, oh, how we have drifted.
He’s mainly on call for emergencies now.
And He’s good to have on your side in an argument, as President Obama demonstrated yesterday in South Carolina, trolling for easy applause by telling the congregation at Pastor Clementa Pinckney’s funeral that the Confederate flag must come down.
“By taking down that flag,” he declared, “we express God’s grace.”
Really? Don’t we do the same thing by honoring what He ordained a marriage to be, a union of one man and one woman in which “the two become as one”?
The U.S. Supreme Court, which opens every session with “God bless this Supreme Court,” is eager to accept His blessings, as long as He understands that it will have the final word on marriage, thank you.
Our would-be leaders are pathetic.
It’s like Hillary Clinton. Formerly opposed to gay marriage, she rushed to the head of the yesterday’s parade, desperately trying to take bows for a victory she once tried so hard to suppress.
Before Massachusetts Chief Justice Margaret Marshall summarily gave the green light to gay marriage here in 2003, all the gay community wanted were civil unions. But once that door was kicked open by judicial fiat, nothing less than “marriage” would do.
If you were against the idea, it meant you were impervious to teen suicides and consumed by hate. The ad hominem attacks were scurrilous but, as we saw yesterday, ultimately effective.
So now what? How about having two wives, or two husbands, or one of each? Who’s to tell anyone that he or she must curb an appetite?
Do your own thing! That’s what the Supreme Court said.
Something quintessentially American died yesterday.
And that’s not hateful. That’s the bitter truth.
Short-term Solution:
1) People who can show up by the millions to support Chick-fil-A should be able to figure out a way to end abortion. So?...Why aren't they? If these Christians are not putting peaceful, legal, and complete end to abortion, then my bet is God will hold them accountable.
Long term solution:
2) Rear up righteous generations of citizens.
That won't happen if we continue to send our nation's children into the godless and socialist-entitlement K-12 indoctrination camps where nearly every teacher in them was trained by godless Marxists in Marxist-run colleges of education! There are whole counties and even entire states where, if Christians and conservatives simply removed their children from the government's godless indoctrination camps, the entire system would **immediately*** collapse! If Christians send their children into godless K-12 indoctrination camps, if they don't know better than to do that awful thing to a child's mind and soul, if they allow these godless mind-altering camps to remain open, then God will hold them accountable.
Who is under greater condemnation? Those who truly haven't been taught the truth and don't know any better way to live,....or...the Christian who **does** know better and has been taught the truth?
Abortion is a stinking stew and the products of godless and socialist entitlement K-12 schooling are its ingredients!
Our nation's children at least since the day of my grandmother ( born 1893) have been attending godlessly secular and socialist-entitlement K-12 schools. These schools, since my grandmother, never gave more than a generically Protestant nod or two in God's direction during their godless secular day.
So?....Why are we shocked and surprised that by the 1960s there was a push for abortion when 90% or more of the nation's voters had been conditioned to think and reason godlessly, taught to compartmentalized their faith in to public and private spheres, and taught every government school day to merely nod in a generically Protestant way to God on occasion?
It's only been worse since then because the government's socialist-entitlement schools have been utterly godless in their worldview since the 60s!
Ok...I will shout!
!!!!!!CHILDREN WHO ATTEND GODLESS SCHOOLS ***WILL*** LEARN TO THINK AND REASON GODLESSLY!!!!! They must just to cooperate in the godless school. How could it possibly be otherwise?
We are reaping the evil we have sown since the very first day we sent children into the government socialist-entitlement and lukewarmly Protestant K-12 schools. Greater condemnation is now falling upon our nation since the government's socialist-entitlement schools have now been utterly godless for more than 2 generations.
“With far less nutrition than an Oreo cookie.” I like that.
Is there anyone here who can open a few new doors for him?
Perhaps it’s not so much a time to celebrate as a time to begin a new War for Independence?
