I have said this elsewhere, but a lot of this is due to the present abundance of cheap money for governments to borrow and spend and run up big debts with. Money they are practically pulling out of thin air via electronic means. However, it will be interesting to see what takes place when it ends (it can not last forever, of course). Many of us will take it on the chin to one degree or another, but I’d hate to see what will happen to people who really do depend on the entitlements and free lunches, etc when they become no longer sustainable.

Part of the problem here is that even so-called "conservatives" are adamantly opposed to shutting down -- or even just curtailing -- big-government entitlements.

That infamous sign from a Tea Party rally a few years ago ... "Keep government out of my Medicare" ... pretty much says it all.

We have become a nation filled with people who are unapologetically liberal when it comes to what THEY want.
