Could Fridays Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage across the country make polygamous marriage a legal reality nationwide in the near future?
Jonathan Turley, the attorney who won the polygamy marriage case in Utah for Kody Brown and his four Sister Wives thinks the majority opinion resonates with the arguments he made to the Utah Supreme Court to decriminalize polygamous consensual relationships.
The cases are actually different in that the Brown case is about the criminalization while todays case was about recognition. We have not argued for recognition of plural marriages. Indeed, the Browns have never asked for multiple marriage licenses, Turley said in an e-mail statement to The Daily Caller.
Like many plural families, they have one state license for one marriage but chose to live as a plural family with spiritual marriages. In that sense, our case is more like Lawrence v. Texas that was handed down ten years ago.(continued)

Wow that is one Ghey picture, all the colors of the rainbow...
It’s a hard thing to prove.
My guess is that many buddies and girl friend roommates and friends, will be getting married for benefits now that sex doesn’t matter.
[ Why not? You might as well make it carte blanche and allow any arrangement between any number of consenting adults to be considered legal, it’s not any more silly than allowing two persons of the same sex to marry. ]
Imagine a jihadi commign here with 4 of his siters, marryign all of them and then marrying his own daughters.....
And we would be haters for opposing it,,,
Oh and they would all get welfare....
Sweet dreams, i mean Bitter nightmares...
I could’ve easily married many a Korean girl, some were offered to me as a way to get them to the states and into college cheaper than bribing all the immigration officials in Korea and the United States and I would have been paid a hefty sum by the father in addition to the Army benefits.
Well, plus he was a charismatic cult/religious leader. Most of us don’t aspire to such things.
It is a pretty amazing look, for sure, bland.
It gives the impression that Warren could make Thai food, as bland as cream of wheat.

His Sriracha would be pastel red coloured water...
Can I have multiple husbands? On second thought... I don’t want to have to wash all those dirty shorts....
Get “sister-wives” to do the laundry. LOL
Polygamy is better than homosexual marriage. There is simply no justification for denying polygamy if the SCOTUS has given homosexuals a constitutional right to have the state recognize their marriage.
There is also no justification for a marriage between 4 or 6 people. Bisexuals can’t have equal rights unless they are able to marry both a man and a woman.
The SCOTUS decision is the most unconstitutional usurpation of power in the history of the republic.
We must not let this stand!
Marry your kids in a sexless marriage.
Avoid inheritance taxes.
Our stay in Salt Lake City amounted to only two days, and therefore we had no time to make the customary inquisition into the workings of polygamy and get up the usual statistics and deductions preparatory to calling the attention of the nation at large once more to the matter.
I had the will to do it. With the gushing self-sufficiency of youth I was feverish to plunge in headlong and achieve a great reform hereuntil I saw the Mormon women. Then I was touched. My heart was wiser than my head. It warmed toward these poor, ungainly and pathetically "homely" creatures, and as I turned to hide the generous moisture in my eyes, I said, "No--the man that marries one of them has done an act of Christian charity which entitles him to the kindly applause of mankind, not their harsh censure--and the man that marries sixty of them has done a deed of open-handed generosity so sublime that the nations should stand uncovered in his presence and worship in silence."
Mark Twain
There are many gays who would be willing to approach the local mosque and ask to be married. Pass the popcorn.
Yup...and you are going to get gay polygamous marriages as well. SCROTUS just opened a Pandora’s Box for all manner of fraud and abuse. I imagine that you’ll have group sham marriages for purposes of securing benefits from employers and the government. When this happens, employers are going to have an impossible time figuring out how to handle those benefits and Social Security is going to be screwed.
I don't think u get it...do you think their taxes would be less???....lol...
When the Dam Breaks, everyone Drowns.
There is no way that Polygamous Marriage and Incestuous Marriage can be denied thanks to today’s SCOTUS Ruling.
Just imagine when a dozen (or more) Women file for Social Security Survivor Benefits when their Polygamous Husband Dies. Let’s say he was getting $2,000 a Month. Now SS will have to pay out $24,000 a Month to his Surviving Widows.
Oh yeah, don’t forget about any Children under 18 in the Household. They get a SS Check Survivor Check too.
The fun never ends when you have unintended consequences.
Look at the tax form. Wives and kids equal credits. The IRS guys will freak out when you start to see three wives and eight kids as credits, but it’ll all be legit. The curious I’ll wonder about....how the health insurance guys handle a guy with ten dependents. Will AHCA actually work then, and just how much will the govenrnment have to cover in extra costs?
These lawyers don’t apparently understand. The Supreme Court couldn’t care less about the law or constitution. Seriously!
Both sides in the gay “marriage” debate act as though the (in-)justices carefully considered the piles and piles of legal arguments and reached an impartial decision. They did not. They knew the outcome they wanted, and they implemented it. They could have ruled on DAY ONE, but that would reveal the truth of how arbitrary the “law” really is in this day age.
No. The process is designed to make it seem as though they’re carefully considering everything in order to lend weight to the final decision (which was already made of course). In fact, they just need time to write their excuses.
Therefore, if the Supreme Court doesn’t want polygamy, we won’t have polygamy regardless of arguments for or against it. I personally think they’ll tell the polygamists to shove off, but who knows with this court?
“There is simply no justification for denying polygamy if the SCOTUS has given homosexuals a constitutional right to have the state recognize their marriage.”
Except there was no justification for homosexual marriage either. They make it up as they go, P-Marlowe. The lesbians/feminists on the court probably oppose polygamy and the conservatives oppose adding more rights to the 14th’s penumbras of emanations, so I don’t think there’s enough votes to pass polygamous marriage.
BTW, I intentionally used the word, votes, because the Supreme Court is no such thing. It’s a supreme legislative body.
“There is no way that Polygamous Marriage and Incestuous Marriage can be denied thanks to todays SCOTUS Ruling.”
LOL! I’m sorry, but I don’t think you clearly understand the situation. They rule however they want. Today’s ruling will be ignored (if that’s what they want), just like they ignored all previous rulings, including one that said homosexual sodomy—much less marriage—is not constitutionally protected.
