Tsipras speaking on television, right now.

Says that there will be national referendum next weekend, to decide whether to accept the EU/IMF's austerity demands, or tell them to go to hell.

Now might be a good time for Greeks to brush up on their Russian?

With everything else going on, we also have financial doom potential to watch out for.

Greece. If the vote is no, he goes back to Brussels with implicit mandate for default/ velvet divorce

This is a no-brainer - just raise taxes on the rich.

they will default and stay in the EU.

Then the central bank will either have to go to war or realize the collapse of the Euro fiat currency.

All four Ministers interviewed after the cabinet had a clear view on the #referendumGR: It should be a “No”.

But what if the Greeks vote yes?

Does Tsipras then give in to the creditor’s demands? I guess he could because when the Greeks start complaining....opps, make that rioting.....then he can say, “Hey - you clowns voted yes. Why you yelling at me?!”

I’m glad. The sooner we have a real global economic catastrophe, the sooner the left gets its just desserts

If they vote to stay in, and accept the EU terms, they can call it “Dependence Day”

Doesn’t austerity mean that Greek citizens are going to sacrifice so the elite can get more money to pay off the money they wasted? Why would anyone vote for that?

Default does not necessarily mean they leave the EU.

The nightmare for bankers is that different eu notes will have different values.

Greeks have loads of taxes on the rich. They just don’t collect them. Paying off their debts would be trivial if they had our IRS..

Hmmm..Can we trade??

There isn’t enough “other people’s money” in the world to allow Americans coast like Greeks have been. Greeks elected the communists to power in some knee jerk reaction and these communists want to burn the whole world down. Something that the regular Greeks are against. That is why all this nonsense and deception happens.
