I was pretty certain that neither of these men was going to be taken alive.
Even if they surrendered.
A few years ago near our family cabin in Colorado a couple came through the small town and shot and killed a police officer (new to the job and with a 2 year old child) - a huge manhunt but it was Oct and getting cold in the mountains, they called the search off about 3 weeks later due to weather, which people thought was a bit quick to call off as the weather was not that bad. The next spring the two were found propped up against a tree with bullets in their heads, been there all winter. There is justice at times.
Shot while trying to escape. Matt especially sounds like a stone cold death penalty candidate.
And what is wrong with that? A win/win situation. Only costs a couple of bucks for bullets and a bodybag. Saves the taxpayer millions in keeping these bastards alive for decades, and in trying to prevent them from escaping again, and perhaps killing again.
