I just don’t see how you can’t allow me to have four wives. To make me happy....it’s obvious that you just need to issue the other licenses and let me do something stupid.

I also don’t see how you can even allow a age limit. If I wanted to marry a 12-year gal from Waco....you’d have to allow that right.

I bring this up....there’s a French law dating back to the late 1700s that says if you were engaged to someone and they die before the marriage ceremony, then with the permission of parents and local judge....you will be married in proxy to the dead guy or gal. As of the 1980s...it’d only been used a couple of times and I think it’s been used once in the past five years. Marriage to a dead guy....but legal.

I get your point (and agree with it), but I've got to tell you that having 4 wives just ain't gonna make you happy. Just remember that you can't spend all of your time in bed, you've got to deal with the rest - and add to the normal "rest" the jealousy of 3 of them at any one time. Good luck with that!

And of course the economic ramifications of polygamy will be huge. When one spouse dies, all the survivors will be entitled to survivors’ benefits...heck, when bestiality is legal, even dogs, horses, chickens can collect.

All that needs to happen is for a Muslim, whose marriage to two women was performed in a Muslim country and legally recognized there, to file suit claiming "religious discrimination".

On what basis can the Supreme Court, now, deny his claim?
