Ruling just came out 5-4
No you fool, this is a direct consequence of federal supremacy governing against the will of the people.
In a hundred years (probably less) there will be other childish little big mouths like you arguing that Homosexuals were being mistreated and the federal government needed to step in and protect them because the status quo was immoral, so therefore the FedGov was justified in taking action.
Fed Zilla started with Lincoln and the Civil War. It is but one more ugly truth that you refuse to face.
Assume crash positions.
Reagan appointed Kennedy, who already had an activists reputation” concerning social issues.
Arcanum is brilliant, much more unknown than Humanae Vitae but just as prescient and important, in my opinion. He lays out the danger of conditioning the populace to believe marriage is whatever the civil authorities say it is at any one time. Eventually many will simply accept any possibility, as long as the state accepts it first.

You blame it all on Lincoln and I'm the fool.
This is the same sort of Neville Chamberlain thinking that enabled and empowered Hitler.
Appeasement never works.
For Catholics will the sacrament of marriage now be openly offered to same sex couples? Too bad the pope is spending his time worshipping at the altar of climate change instead of defending marriage.
No need to question, we can’t. The end times had to get rolling some time, I believe that we’re witnessing that time.
Yes on the latter count.
Not just no. *Hell no!*
>>>>>>>>Gays might be able to get a civil marriage, but that does not mean that that sham marriage must be performed by a church.
Yet.
Within months, they’ll demand it. (If the minister signs a marriage license, then it is a public act, remember)
And the courts will force it upon churches. Just watch.
What they need to do is refuse.
We need governors to say, “No. This is tyranny. We’ll not implement your stupidity.”
We need legislatures to back up their governors.
Or...
And on the first one as well. Golly gee, how will I every learn to live with the shame of your disapproval?
Cluelessness has been your shield for a very long time, so I predict it will continue to shield you from the awareness of your own stupidity for awhile longer.
That didn’t happen with civil divorce and remarriage, but that wasn’t considered a ‘civil right’ and it was a much saner time litigation-wise.
Punishing faiths for not conducting marriages is certainly no more ridiculous a prediction than telling someone in 1985 ‘gay marriage’ would be legal in every state of the union by 2015.
Freegards
You are correct. My bad.
So, when do polygamists and brothers/sisters go to the courthouse for their marriage licenses?
Obviously not many people are homosexual. I tried fighting the slide by opposing one of the main root causes of societal downfall which is drugs. When a growing number of people lack self respect because they are hooked on drugs then any far leftist agenda becomes not only possible but predictable.
Too bad I wasnt joined by more people. Instead, for example, there was one poster with “Saint” in his name saying smoking dope is no big deal just like huffing turpentine. Yea really.
Just a pity. Expect more bad things to come.
“Divorce lawyers across America celebrate a windfall.”
Absolutely cogent interpretation of this ruling’s likely impact. As much as this “community” likes to pose as loving, faithful partners, I’d bet that divorce rates go through the roof. I should have gone to law school as I originally planned. Though it must be hard to do my job holding my nose all the time.
>>>>>>For Catholics will the sacrament of marriage now be openly offered to same sex couples?
It wouldn’t surprise me if some dissenting priests or deacons sign marriage licenses. It wouldn’t surprise me if some limp wristed bishop refuses to discipline said clergymen. It wouldn’t surprise me if the current Vatican ignores the situation (witness how they react to specific examples of pro abortion politicians receiving communion).
But, no, it won’t ever be recognized as a valid sacrament.
