John Mellencamp slammed the music business with the exception of Taylor Swift during a 25-minute rant Wednesday at a UJA-Federation of New York luncheon honoring Republic Records co-founders Monte and Avery Lipman.

Another source said, He was saying that Swifts the only one doing anything to save the business, and, I applaud that young lady, she stands up for our rights. A bunch of us stand on the sidelines.
Swift just pressured Apple into changing its policy regarding royalties for its new streaming music service. Mellencamp even called out major artists, including, seemingly, Bruce Springsteen, by asking, Whats that guy in New Jersey doing to help?, an attendee said.

I think John Mellencamp’s music sucks.
You guys are so mean. He has one of my favorite songs—”hurts so good”—the rest, well, I can take them or leave them, but that is a classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dOsbsuhYGQ
Call me a conspiracy nut but the music industry helps to push popular cultural, and the industry has decided that hedonism, greed, lust, and self indulgence are what people want.
“Is he related to John Cougar?”
He’s the artist formerly known as John Cougar.
And the artist formerly known as John Cougar Mellencamp.
Wow. the music industry is full of snakes trying to rip off artists? Who would have thought? How dare record executives try to get a return on their investment!
He wrote a song opposing the Iraq war where rhymed war with oil .
Full legal name Johnny Cougar Mellencamp Uh Huh.
So, give the Money back then John.
Show how sincere you really are.
Let me guess, he’s just another Libtard, right?
Boo friggin hoo, po baby.
True, and the video sucks, as does his politics. Like Elton John?
Gee Mr. Mellonhead;
Maybe the reason you are ‘standing on the sidelines’ is because most of your former fans figured out that you are really just a limp-dick liberal meathead.
Well, bye.
I agree. Both the music industry and the movie industry are awful and beyond comprehension.
Did he look in a mirror or something?
John who?
I always liked his music. I think he probably means well, but I don’t generally look to musicians for political opinion, so I’m seldom disappointed when they do say dumb stuff.
I don’t know (or care) about the industry but the music? sure sucks.
