Republican groups that support same-sex marriage want to send a message to their party's voters and candidates: We are not an anomaly.
Two right-leaning groupsAmerican Unity Fund and Project Right Sideare releasing a poll that they say shows that most voters support gay marriage, and a higher proportion of Republicans support gay marriage than measured before.
The poll surveyed 2,000 registered voters nationally by phone this month, including 798 Republican and lean-Republican voters, along with 500 voters in the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina.
The poll found that 57 percent of all registered voters favor legalizing gay marriage, and 59 percent of voters said they would accept the Supreme Court's forthcoming decision on same-sex marriage as the law of the land, even if that means accepting legal same-sex marriage nationwide. Of Republican voters surveyed, just 39 percent favor legalization, and 44 percent said they would accept the Supreme Court's ruling.

Meet the billionaire hedge fund manager, Paul E. Singer, quietly shaping the GOP gay marriage debate (American Unity Fund). For Singer, there is a personal connection to the issue. His son is gay, and got married in Massachusetts.
I think it's our duty to help the misery along. I have long had a theory that prosperity makes people liberal, and austerity makes them conservative.
Take steps to secure your own situation, and then do what you can to create financial misery for the rest of the nation that so badly deserves it.
Amen!
Really? This is EVERY registered Republican? There are how many people in the US? This is utterly BS. Someone thinks we're stupid sheep.
If you find out, let me know. For the first time in my life, I am thinking what country to move to.
I think our rallying flag should be....’An Appeal to Heaven’....
George Washington supported this flag....it has great meaning....then and now
Bttt
I’ve been saying this for a while now, and some Freepers still seem to think the GOP in Washington is going to stand up for them.
It’s time for the Tea Party to organize. That way we will have a real opposition group in Washington instead Boehner and McConnell (the compromised clowns).
Trying to change the GOP from within DOES NOT WORK....
You have compromised GOP leadership ,like Karl Rove, who is calling for the Feds to end second Amendment? How can ANY CONSERVATIVE support a party that has leaders in favor of banning the second Amendment?
What about Obama care too? Don’t forget the Republicans were saying to Obama that if the SCOTUS would rule against the Obama Administration, then they would do everything they can to keep it the law.
Think about the wide open borders, and they say/do nothing. What about the expansion of the size of government under the GOP instead of shrinking of it? What about the rigid trade deals, where the U.S. is the only country that still pays tariffs, while the other countries no longer have to. This leads to our jobs slowly going overseas and slowly shuts down our entire economy.
The only purpose of the GOP I see is to keep conservatives in check. To keep the Tea Party in check. It’s to keep out a real opposition party in Washington.
That’s the wrong approach, and something I would never support. You do not win people over through violence.
If you become violent, then you lose the moral high ground and the other side automatically wins.
We can beat them in the realm of ideas alone. We just have to be bold instead of “political correct”. All political correctness does is censure and silence people.
Indeed Fortune Favors The Bold.
