We did know it because we know the whole federal government is corrupt. We need to radically rethink the process we’re engaged in. By “we” I mean the people who want freedom. Freedom is not negotiable yet we negotiate it when we chose leaders who are willing to compromise huge chunks of it and not fight for it: governors, senator, state-reps, US reps, etc. When I say “fight for it,” I don’t mean filibusters that fail or symbolic legislation that gets vetoed. Those are part of the due diligence process, but due diligence has run its course. I’m talking about disobedience.
This was not an circumvention on the constitution, it was a full frontal assault. Any pol who doesn’t take immediate steps to ensure that it doesn’t stand (again, I’m not talking about filibusters and symbols) is not worth our time. Since Americans are probably not going to pick up guns and shoot politicians en masse, the only hope I see is creating a party that represents us. That means the Republican party needs to die. That means we need to withhold our vote for EVERY Republican at every level. As long as they keep associating with the GOP, they give it legitimacy and the Establishment can keep up their charade.
Exaclty he should never be forgiven.
Actually, the question becomes, what other laws can we now interpret in such a way that it fits our narrative?
I can’t stand socialism, but adopting it doesn’t automatically lead to complete economic collapse.
That sounds like a liberal....*slamming* something, while accepting it. Why in the world would ANY right minded person even mention “adopting” socialism?
BTW, welcome to Free Republic.
If healthcare represents 15% of the economy, then paying for healthcare will require at least 15% of everyone’s paychecks.
I have decided that I no longer consent to being governed by the current lawless government.
If I have to quit my job so they cant steal taxes from me, I will do so. If I must go without a doctor, I will do so. If I can not buy products I love because of the perversions of the business - I will not buy.
These are some of the peaceful ways I will not comply. I shall employ them until the time comes for a better solution.
Agree :(
When the Supreme Court invoked “penumbras” and “emanations” to justify the slaughter of babies in the womb, they lost all credibility and stepped over to the dark side. This ruling is just another in a long, sorry chronology.
We'll see, I suppose. I've been on message boards since the days of the Usenet, and I've been seeing predictions of civil war from those on the right and revolution from those on the left for decades.
They certainly could. That's the conventional old-school way to do it as they might have done back in the day when there were socialist-lite democrats and real republicans instead of what we have now. Looking ahead I wonder why they would bother making their voters pay - at least initially. It would be easier for them to just take it from the rich, upper middle class and businesses and lock in the thresholds so they don't increase with inflation. Then over time more and more people pay it.
They are not worried about how to pay for it. They have a lock on the Presidency and SC and can do what they want. I fear they are more preoccupied over what to ram down our throats next. This SC ruling is blood in the water to these hungry sharks.
Apparently words have no meaning.

It seems to me the NYT may have “claimed” they didn’t want to violate the kids civil rights...but that promise may have been made by the Obama administration. You know how they are all for protecting one’s civil rights.
1. Recission, or rejection of any and all odious and unjust Federal Laws by the States.
2. Holding an Article V Convention for the purpose of restoring power to the States, and also circumscribing the scope of Judicial Review, as claimed for the Judiciary by Chief Justice John Marshall in Marbury v. Madison in 1803.
3. Secession, or the breaking-away by some States to form a separate independent nation, because this time, the slavery-shoe will be on the other foot (that is: The Federal Government)!
I arranged the above-listed options in order of increasing radicalism. One of the above series of events must come to be, otherwise we will have ceased to be citizens, and must then recognize ourselves as mere subjects, or slaves, of the almighty government.
Proves that I am right.
