As a radically conservative defender of liberty and states’ rights, I say that there is no good biblical, historical, or strategic reason to defend a state’s flying of the Confederate battle flag today. It is rather a sign of utter hypocrisy, sentimentalism, and misguided zeal. Every Christian of every stripe ought to be calling for the removal of that profound distraction in SC—and every other state-sponsored location—in the name of Christian integrity and the advance of true Christian values and culture.
I am quite cognizant of the appeal of “heritage not hate,” and I feel the power of it. It is too easy for liberals to exploit the crises and emotions related to them, and it is too easy to forget what was good about Southern values and to focus only on the bad.
In view of those much-lost and trampled values, I almost sympathize with the rhetoric of those who recognize that that flag is the Confederate battle flag (and not the national flag), and who therefore recognize that as long as the state flies that flag, it is essentially saying the war is not over, but we’re only experiencing the longest cease-fire in history. Almost.
Hypocrisy
But as long as the voters keep electing politicians to keep up that flag under such pretenses and for such reasons of “heritage” as states’ rights, honor, and freedom, they are engaging in what amounts to the biggest act of hypocrisy in history as well.
For starters, South Carolina takes in more Federal subsidies in comparison to taxes paid than any other state. Many studies confirm this status or something very close. According to one study, SC receives 5.38 times as much money as it pays in.

Liberals want us talking about the confederate flag because it’s an issue they feel can hurt us.
Who, do you think, uses the most of that federal tax revenue in South Carolina, blacks or whites?
Notice how quickly “conservatives” are jumping on the Marxist bandwagon toward cultural cleansing, the same people who want us to respect Muslim and Mexican symbols and cultures tell us to HATE our own.
Why do we continue to let the left define the battlefield. We’re constantly on the defensive with the libs marching further every day.
Who gives a crap about whether the flag is flying.
I am making it a point to fly the flag, display it on my person in the form of a lapel pin, etc. When anyone wants to take something away from this badly, it gives me reason to believe that it’s worth holding on to, not that I didn’t already support the flag as part of my history and heritage. The American flag will be next on the hit list, when this goes down.
So you are saying that taking down a flag will stop a looney wacko punk racist kid with a gun from shooting people? Anyone who believes that is looney as well.

what should also be pointed out ad nausea is there’s not much difference between the way the confederate flag is viewed as a symbol of “hate” by the liberals and what comes out of the mouth of rev wright, obama’s favorite pastor...
I never cared about the Battle flag of Virginia until now. Now I’m going to buy one because it’s now become a symbol of resistance against the tyranny of the left.
Raise the black flag of ISIS over the US Capitol and the White Mosque right now. All is lost, abject surrender is our only option.
Next target, all the Christian crosses and Jewish Stars of David are to be removed and destroyed or totally obliterated.
I would add the “< /sarcasm >” tag, but this is too close to the probable course of events.
Possibly, the Confederate Flag, the Gadsden Flag and the “Come And Take It” Flag are needed as reminders that people can be pushed too far.

All this hysteria makes me want to buy a Confederate battle flag and hang it.

Well said. Made me smile. Thanks. Liberalism is a mental disease, and it is apparently contagious. It would appear both the msm and the internet are carriers. Perhaps a good dose of DDT (Double Down Thinking) would be an appropriate step toward a cure.
