Citadel votes to remove Confederate Naval Jack from campus chapel

The Board of Visitors at the Citadel voted Tuesday night to remove the Confederate Naval Jack from its chapel on campus.

The vote was 9-3 in favor of removing the flag from Summerall Chapel.

A Citadel spokesperson says the school needs the General Assembly's permission to remove the flag.

According to Citadel officials, the flag was presented to the military college in 1939. The removal of the flag will be done in accordance with the Heritage Act, the spokesperson said.

Removal of all memorials to Confederate soldiers and to Generals Lee and Jackson. Never mind that the soldiers’ memorials and the statues that go with them are identical to the ones found all over the North, except for the identification of the Army for which they fought. . . .

I’m sick of all of this hoopla over the Confederate flag as though IT was the reason for the killings at the church instead of a sick-o of Leftist perspective, and will.

The Left want to use the occasion of the crisis to eliminate a symbol of their past. The Confederate flag IS a major symbol of Democrat history.

I don't see that happening, quite yet. But here's what I do see happening. Flying PC flags at institutions will become acceptable alternatives to flying the American flag. That's already started, and it will accelerate. Rainbow flags? Sure! Mexican flags? Sure!

Gadsden flags (Don't Tread on Me)? Err...no. Not politically correct. Represents micro-aggression, and all that.
